I did not disagree with Stewart's position; the men did not commit any crime and if it wasn't for them, the girl's body wouldn't have been found. That doesn't mean that is what I would have done. I would have sent the kid to hike back until he got a signal on his cell: report it and wait for the authorities. While you wait, why not fish if you are up to it, why not? Anyhow, I thought Clare's reaction (and the town folks) over blown; I would have left her in an instant although I can't agree with Stewart's violence. A good story about small town morals.

Tedious and self-righteous guff. This is a overly long knock-off of a segment of a much better movie by Robert Altman called Short Cuts based on the short stories of American writer Raymond Carver.

Complex and compelling, rather like witnessing a car crash, hard to look at but impossible to look away. Has a high level of tension running thru it as the viewer is constantly teased by the threat of imminent violence directed toward several of the central characters. Excellent film.

A rather enigmatic movie and storyline with numerous subplots and many unresolved conflicts. A difficult but rewarding film to watch with no real happy endings among much human frailty.
