The Exorcism of Emily Rose just didn't do anything for me. It wasn't all that scary, It wasn't that exciting, It was really just boring. Unless you're into watching court cases about crazy people, then don't waste your time with this movie.

The Exorcism Of Emily Rose By Charlotte Smith Have you ever gone to see a movie that is based on a freaky true story but yet it's not all that frightening? Well, The Exorcism of Emily Rose is just that. A combination of slightly scary and boring courtroom drama, it will keep you yawning in your seat. The storyline is based on the true story (it happened in 1978) of 19-year-old Emily Rose (Jennifer Carpenter), the freshman who is attending university where she becomes possessed in her dorm room. It all begins in a flashback sort of way, when Emily is visited one night by an invisible demon that moves things in her room and attempts to get inside of her. Ultimately, when Emily dies of heart failure because of the exorcism committed by the Priest Father Moore (Tom Wilkinson), the case goes to trial. There he tells Emily's story, and thus begins the only scary parts. His defense lawyer, Erin Bruner (Laura Linney), presents a good case. However, every time she comes up with some sort of proof that Emily was under demonic possession, Ethan Thomas (Campbell Scott), the prosecutor, comes up with medical or scientific proof that it was psychosis. The movie becomes like a tennis match, shooting arguments back and forth. However both Bruner and Scott do a superb job of persuading you to take their sides. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is not really all that frightening, I even found myself comparing it to The Exorcist; the only difference is that it is based on a true story, while The Exorcist was much more frightening and less boring. While the acting in this movie was excellent, the movie itself was not. Unfortunately, all the scary parts that you see in the previews are the only ones it offers. This scary movie/courtroom drama is not anything spectacular and I really wouldn't recommend going to see it unless you have nothing else to do.

I watched this movie and I cried bc I thought how could somebody's family go through such a crisis. It scared me and I had to watch it again with my boyfriend b4 I could sleep bc all I seen were mental pictures of tha demons that haunted her. This is a must see and a reality check in tha same. Go see it and make your own decision but be weary it is disturbing for the everyday eye!!!

Well ive watch this movie it's not that scary as I thought but it could be much better if they pay attention more to emily and let us watch more of her attacks maybe tht will make the movie more scary lol ive like this movie.

The movie was great, it showed different sides and weather some people beleive or not it's only a matter of time because it's there, and just because they made a movie of it, it doesn't mean that it's the first time. There's hundreds of case's all over the world they just don't make movies of all of them, some of these types of case's are more or less dramatic then other's. But that's what GOD wants us to know (basicly speaking) and in the end we'll all wake up and see the light, know the truth, remember he and only he knows what's best for us (he created us) even the one's that don't beleive will understand. This was great keep up the good work.

Well I never knew this what based on a true story but the movie itself is disturbing in many ways. For its entertainment value it is fairly scary. The tought that these things may actually be true is something even more. Not for the young.

Well... I went to the theater all excited, I wanted to see a horror and jump and scream. But a bit dissapointing, the movie was sooo much in the courtroom, it was more about the courtcase then scary parts. But I mean overall it was okay not a complete waste of my money, but expecting something different.

True, not sensationalized. This makes for frightening scenes, but maybe someof usneed to have the hell scaredout of us- not the lack-a-daisicalattitude toward evilthat prevails among some Christians today.

The Exorcism of Emily rose was a great movie, this movie was better then the previous exorcism movies ive seen. It had a great movie plot, and never got boring there was nothing that I did not like about this movie. I recommend this movie to all the people out there who like scary movies.

It is just rubish. If you are extremly catolic, you will get firghtned but if you open your mind to oteher theories such as Psicology, you will find a cientific explanation for Emily´s behavior.

I just saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose and I really liked it. It isnt a horror film but a drama with flash backs of the Exorcism. The film didnt depend on make up or any cheap tricks to make you jump. If you like court room drama with a little bit of spice this is the movie for you. The thriller was the event of the Exorcism and what really happened not on what the victim looked like and what and how she became possessed. A film with a twist a must see.

This movie is absolutly terrible it gave me nightmares for weeks. I thought that myslef and surroundings were getting possesed and or possesed. I watch scary movies all the time and they have no effect on me. I couln't shower without having the grewsome thoughts running through my mind. I Recommend never to see this film.

People with heart problem stay away from it since its true stroy:).. we watched it with friends then we went to grave yard 2.30am haha everyone was scared... it's a funny story tho lol.

I think this movie was pretty good, all though I was kind of annoyed at the whole "court/lawyer" thing, I think they should have shown more of Emily. I wasnt expecting it to be told in flashbacks. But yes it did scare the living... out of me, me & my friends got told to shut up a few times because we were screaming quite a bit =), but you should go see it for yourself. Excellent.

Sophisticated horror story with great lead actors. Who needs to be convinced about evil in the world? A self-destructive pychosis is evidence enough. That God wanted to help people through her suffering is unvarnished Christian orthodoxy.

Great horror movie if only the shots from the trial were annulated. You're scared, grab your forearm, Close your eyes and once you reopen them you see a dozen men speaking in words beyond horror-loving youth's understanding and yawn... You're scared again at the flashbacks... anyway... bad mix but quite scary if you're a Christian I might add. Very disturbing for faithful people.

Well this movie is really good and scary. It showes you diffrents sides of the story, like the religious one where we acctualy believe she is possessed and the psychiatric one that explains her medical history. So good to see, I really loved everything about it. Even when it's done you are wondering if she is possesed or just plain crazy. You have to see this and decide after. Loved it.

This movie was so insanely horrible!! YOu should take it out of the theater asap. It was so stupid and lame. The plot was very predictable... and it was just so stupid. And for all of you who think in real life it was just the same in the movie... you're wrong! It was merely "based" on a true story; which in many ways could mean that only a few things were real. Not all that stupid junkk. THINK TWICE... [...] insanely lame movie.

Truly disturbing. Not sure that I had expected this sort of structure, but it hunts me until today they way they showed us her multiple demons inside of her. This is not the typical monster horror movie we are used to see, this is real, this will get to you. Scariest ever!

The movie will not please to teens but will definitely appeal to older audience. Dont get me wrong, Im 23 and loved the movie but what the preview give us is not what the movie is about. If you like drama more then horror then this is your movie but if you into teen slasher movie a la Scream or I know what you did last summer then stay aways from Emily Rose.

Although the blend of the horror and courtroom genres were unique the movie had way too much courtroom. The flashbacks were interesting but the courtroom took up about 75% of the film. The trailer does this movie a big favour. The actual exorcism is the best part of the movie, my eyes were glued to the screen. Way to much like The Exorcist though.

Omg, this movie was so stupid. Okay 1st of all, why is there a cow flying over the CN Tower? What does that hav to do with France? And how is that based on a true story?! Worst movie I hav ever seen... & was up with the chicken doing the frog? They were like making out and then they exploded and made a big mess. Wht kind of horror movie is that ment to b? The commercials made it look stupid... GRR if u wanna see a better horror movie then this... go watch Barney or a baby show with your kids... that way every1 is happy :D deffinaly go see this movie... it rocks!! [...]
