Lots of potential, some excellent bits, but without any genuine message, or satisfactory closure. :(

L'american dream! Tout le monde le sait, on peut devenir quelqu'un d'important rapidement aux États-Unis. Dans ce film on nous démontre le contraire, on peut travailler longtemps pour atteindre un haut niveau mais en peut de temps, on peut retomber plus bas. Bon film.

Definitely a bit weird. It's an interesting movie if you are interested in the business of film making. Otherwise... you might find yourself looking at your watch (or walking out) Not for everyone- the kind of thing you either love or hate.

One of the better films of this year! A very sophisticated comedy and highly enjoyable. DeNiro is fantastic throughout. See it.

An intense, behind the scenes look at the life of a producer - whether fictitious or not - nontheless an engaging film filled with irony. A film that lampoons the carprices of Hollywood and that de-glamourizes this gargantuan industry.

Good cast, bad story. I saw people leave the theater in the middle of the movie saying it was too boring.

Billed as a comedy, it is more a testimony to creative mediocrity. There are several humorous elements in this understated treatment of the Hollywood system, but it really cries out for more farce, like a good British comedy puncturing its own ethics and pomposity. Robert De Niro walks through the flic in one sustained ad-lib, without angst or reflection on the stress of his life. Catherine Keener is suitably icy as the studio head, and other supporting roles mesh well with the tempo of grandiose manipulation that drives film production. It is entertaining, but could have been much more if they had just increased the zany factor.

One of the best films of the year, I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about! Flawless and highly entertaining, funny, and a good amount of sophistication. This is really good filmmaking and De Niro's best performance in 10 years.

Really boring... I left the theatre after an hour. There was no point to this film. Just a lot of yelling.

This is the worst movie I have seen since "Vergingetorix". It is just tedious and stupid, and a waste of the actors talents. The ending is predictable, although unrealistic (no movie studio exec worth her salt wouldn't make sure that they were showing the right version of a film at the premiere)
