When my roommate showed the cover to me, I rolled my eyes. But it was actually great. NOTE TO PARENTS- it's not a kids movie. There is tonnes of off colour adult humour in it & should not be seen by children. It was a pleasant surprise to me & now own it.

This film is not for kids, so don't expect it to be all fun and clean. It is very funny and th acting is great! All the actors, even those chosen for the smaller parts are terrific. Edward Norton is completely adorable and if you've seen some of his other work it is great fun to watch him being so innocent! Robin is great, funny, mean and nice, excellent. I had low expectations for this movie, but being a big fan of some of the actors, I decided to see it anyways and I was very surprised at the great quality of the film. I recommend this to anyone who likes diffrent types of comedies and oh yeah, to all you romantic people out there, there's something in there for you too:)

I thought that this movie definitely much better than I had expected. Robin Williams really did a great job! It definitely had it's funny moments, and had a real interesting storyline, but the ending I thought could have been better.

Good stuff! Edward Norton and Robin Williams make it a great movie. Not too funny, but then again, it's not a comedy people. Mark it down as another success for Norton.

Why is everyone saying Edward was good in this movie. Someone who is good makes you like the scene with him even if everything else sucks. In this movie it's the case. So if you say Edward made a good performance then you must have liked all his scene and that's practically the whole movie. No Edward was not good because I didn't like the movie better when he was there. I must say all the good scene was when Robins Williams was there. He is the only reason this movie was not a total poof. And because he played only in a few scenes he didn't help me put a bigger mark then 4/10. One last point. If you say it was funny then you must really let yourself go and laught at things you should't laugh. Well in this movie that is really croosing the line to laugh at those things even if you know you shouldn't laugh.

If you dont like Black Comedy, you want like Death to Smoochy. This film is extremely funny. You laugh at things you really
should not laugh at. When you watch death to Smoochy for the first time, dont think of it as a Slap Stick or a Dark comedy. Edward Norton prove he can be animated and Robin Williams; what can I say is just Robin Williams. 4 Stars to Death to Smoochy!!!

This is very poor movie. Too few laughs and the few that there were were not big. This was not a good movie for Robin Williams, but, for Danny Devito and the very promising Edward Norton. I really would not recommend this, even if it were free, in fact, even if it were on TV... unless there was nothing else on the other 50 or so channels! Just as a note there were far TOO many youngsters in to see this show, meaning under 10s. There is a LOT of BAD language in it. The rating is there for a reason!!! BE WARNED!

This movie was a black comic gem. Having viewed it at "cheap" movie night at the "cheap" theatre only enhanced it's black charm. This is a Hollywood movie that is so unlike anything Hollywood produces that I am impressed it actually got made. With an all star cast of bad guy character actors and lead Robin Williams playing a parody of himself with dark tones, this movie is sure to entertain. Edward Norton plays the good guy with a few flaws magically. This movie pokes fun at such arcane events as the Ice Capades, Childrens television shows and TV Network Politics and must have been a fun script to write for Comic legend Adam Resnick. I heartily endorse this movie for the two dollar cost of getting in to the googaplex, in fact a friend of mine actually saw it for one dollar after the ticket girl mishandled his change. The bad reviews for this flick worried me a little but I was pleasantly surprised. The audience even had a few good belly laughs. Don't take the kids to this one as there is some colorful language, and they won't get it anyway.

Death to Smoochy is a film that I enjoyed but should have enjoyed a whole lot more. This picture takes a cynical view of a lot of things including kiddie TV programming (it's all about marketing product spin-offs) , charity fund raising, (it's all about skimming a profit off the top) and office work relationships (its all about a fight for power) Having said that, the film amplifies these themes in absurd ways that are very funny. The fact that these notions can be so entertaining is because of an imaginative script that relies on the belief that the audience already knows these real-world, facts-of-life and identifies with them to some extent. Unfortunately, director Danny Devito takes this well-crafted and imaginative story and nearly ruins it with his annoying camera angles, silly close-ups and jumpy film editing. DeVito is a good character actor but he does not know how to use the camera to tell a story. His directors touch lacks the sincerity and understanding that is needed in the telling of a black comedic tale like this one.

Clever humour, a welcome stretch for Robin Williams, and well-acted all around. For those who were expecting a kid's movie, the "rude and crude" jokes that one reivewer referred to may be surprising. They are, however, a clever juxtaposition of Williams' character's T. V. presence, and the reality of his life. Very funny.

Incredible. What a wonderful movie. Of course it isn't for kids: it doesn't market itself as one either. The movie has the magic 3 elements: good writing, good acting, good directing. It's been a while since I saw a movie which made me laugh this much.

In some ways reminiscent of Director Peter Jackson's 1989 film 'Meet The Feebles, ' 'Death to Smoochy' (Danny Devito Dir.) takes on a satirical view of the childrens entertainment industry through its display of extreme corruption and greed. While the film may be considered overly dark to many viewers expecting to see another run-of-the-mill studio comedy, it is sure to find fans among the more unbiased viewer. The performances of both Norton (Smoochy) and Williams (Rainbow Randolph) are especially well delivered and contain enough diversity and flair to keep even the most conservative audience entertained at the very least.

Death to Smoochy is a dark comedy with a bizzare twist involving child-entertainers, midgets, the Irish mob, ice-shows, and #1 ratings. Robin Williams plays wonderfuly as the 'Nemisis' of Edward Norton's Smoochie the rhinoceros in a tale of corruption and wholesomeness, all mixed in one.

This is a brilliant film. It's clever, imaginative and original. Williams and Norton provide wonderful performances and Devitos direction is flawless. You'll have to pay attention, so if your idea of great film making requires anything to blow up, give this one a miss. If, on the other hand, you appreciate dark humour and satire, you must see this film!

Most of the peoples who hate this movie are biased because they thought they we're going to see a sweet sweet comedy with the sweet and angelic Robin Williams. Nobody remember the Good Morning Vietnam, or The Fisher King, or his small cameo appearence in Deconstructing Harry? This movie was made by Danny DeVito people, start having some cinematic culture. Anyway, the plot is awesome, Robin William and Edward Norton are polyvalent as ever (Norton is magnificent by starting as a gentle sweet man and... anyway, you'll see) , I loved the songs and the score, and the humor is totally incredible. It was time for a straight and dark comedy after all those "Hey, let's do a sweet movie so the people will return to good ol' american values! " movie. Danny DeVito knows the limit between a dark comedy and "South Park" like vulgarity (I like South Park though) A great movie to see for people who don't trust humanity. PS: If you liked this movie, you should check out the movie "Dead or Alive 2: Birds". It got one of of those vulgar kid show we all like. It's Japanese though, but sooooooooooooo awesome (like all Japanese movie, it would be great if Montreal had more place for asiatic cinema)

This was a very original movie. I can see where many of these critics are coming from giving this movie a bad review saying it doesn't have a good plot, but if it made you laugh, isn't that what a comedy is all about. It made me laugh a lot. I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. Ok, so the plot wasn't the greatest, but a comedy doesn't really need one. If you want to laugh your brains out, go see this movie.

This movie really was quite funny. It took until about ten minutes into it before it started to really be funny, but it ended up making me laugh harder than I have at any other comedy released in recent memory. You can't take this movie seriously. It's an extraordinarily dark atmosphere that delivers creative laughs without indulging itself in cheap jokes about people with disabilities, farting, race differences etc... ie."Rush Hour". The laughs are generated by creating almost a noir about corruption in a place where you least think to find it: childrens television. All in all they come up with some very interesting characters played wonderfully by the terrific cast and deliver some very creative and side-splittingly funny scenarios. Summing up, if one of the funniest movies you've seen is "You Got Mail" and/or the most unique and exciting experience you've had at the cinema this year has been "Snow Dogs", give this one a miss. If you're in the mood for something different that'll keep you quite intregued throughout, don't miss it.

I didn't expect to like this movie, but I wound up laughing my butt off! There are quite a few dark scenes, and I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone under 10. This movie has something for everyone: a romance, humour of all kinds, dark moments, an Irish mob... I really dislike Robin Williams, but he didn't annoy me as much as usual in his role as a corrupt children's entertainer turned vengeful psychopath turned remorseful hero. Death to Smoochy was worth the money I paid.

Both me and my girlfriend wanted to leave 1hr into the movie, cynism, swearing, stupid script that does not go anywhere... the only good thing we can say about this movie is that Edward Norton delivered once again a great performance. Directing sucked big time, don't waste your money, wait 2 months and it's going to come out on video.

This is definitely not a kids movie, rather a pg-13 movie. Ok, now that I've said that, this is probably the funniest movie I've seen all year. It is dark humour but its hilarious. Not only is the script itself funny, but it is also witty and exciding. If you see this movie, which you defanitly should, pay attention to every line. There are some jokes that are easy to miss. Also pay attention to the songs. Some of them contain lyrics that'll make your stomach hurt from laughing.

This was a very dark movie. I was moritified to see a row full of children sitting in front of me in the theatre. There were about 10 funny (Robin Williams) moments in this movie which were strung together by a weak plot and script. The currupt charity and mob subplots should have been replaced with more Robin Williams screen time. The leading lady did not have one ounce of chemistry with the delicious Ed Norton, either.

I am a fan of Edward Norton, so I will try hard to find artistic and stylistic mérit in this movie. The themes reveal true human character in relation to revenge and humanity. Simply put, the movie highlights good vs. Evil. But this is definitely not a child's movie. Rude and crude jokes and 1-liners abound. All in all, a colourful movie filmed stylishly with different camera angles, but unmemorable.

This movie is not for kids!!! This is a movie full of dark humor. Robin Williams and Edward Norton are amazing but as I said before this is an adult movie. There is no way that this movie should be rated G. There is course language, violence and sexual situations. The humor in this movie will go over most adults heads let alone the children that I saw waiting in line as I left the cinema. If you are a parent and think that you are going to take your child to a Barney type movie think again. This is a Danny DeVito movie... need I say more? If you are an adult or a teenager I'm sure you will enjoy this movie completely. See this movie for its dark surreal quality. It's a different movie that I think was meant to make people think and laugh at the same time. Go and enjoy, but don't bring you kids.
