It's not as bad as the massive amounts of 1 ratings and not as good as the large amount of 10 ratings. Try exercising a little temperance people. This movie is a perfect 5.

There is only so much time to live this life so don't bother wasting two minutes of it on this unrealistic, lack of humour, over rater flick that just happens to make money only because Hollywood backed it up with huge media dollars and a popular lead actor in Will Smith who was at his worst here.

Alright, just because a movie has Will Smith and Salma Hayek in it doesn't mean it's going to be a blockbuster. This movie sucked big time. In fact, it was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. It had potential to be somewhat decent in the beginning, but after fifteen minutes I knew I was doomed for the next hour to watch the most boring film ever.

Extremly sad, very bad acting, I was very dissapointed (I fell asleep) I recommend you not watching this movie, because it will give you a very bad impression about Will Smith and Salma Hayek. My opinion is to see another movie try to not see this movie. Have a good time.

Pass. This movie doesn't know what it wants to be: si-fi, western, comedy, adventure? It ends up being nothing of above and certainly not very good. I guess I had most problems in trying to categorize it. Even my kids (12 & 15) were not impressed. Weak story, weak acting. Imagine this movie on a small screen - it will be even worse.

It's hard to figure out what critics expect of a film. I suspect to be constantly surprised by something *clever*. My preference is for good entertainment, and I was pleasantly surprised with this film after all the bad-hype. I liked the mix between the down-to-earth gun slinging Smith and the technology obsessed Kline. It's not original, but it worked for me. It's just a fun film. Treat it as such, don't attempted to pick at its inaccuracies or what it's doing, just enjoy the entertainment. This is a good movie, trying to reinvent the Western a little (which it doesn't do, much to Hollywood's disappointment I expect), but a good movie none-the-less.

Not even the extreme talent of Will Smith, Kevin Kline and Kenneth Brannaugh could revive this poorly written Men in BlackHats monstrosity. Enough with the special effects already! We're no longer impressed with it! It's too bad really, 'cause this movie could've been sooooo much fun.

I really am not sure how to grade this movie. I guess that some people might like it but personally, I found that quite a few parts were tacky. On a brighter note, there were a few good and funny moments. On the whole though, disappointing to average. NOT worth the 5-10 bucks Better wait for it in the video store.

Though still better than some of the other garbage polluting some cinemas, this was frankly a dissapointment in Will Smith's line of summer "blockbusters". Despite the claim of a deliberately cheesy yet original plot, this movie doesn't quite meet one's expectations if those expections are for a similarly action packed feature of the Indepependance Day/M.I.B. genre, or even when compared to nothing. It is rather anticlimactic, and the effects are nothing to brag about, with the exception of the shock/coolness appeal of the rather gargantuan mechanical spider, the movie's main attraction. However, with some funny moments, an enjoyable story and a and capable cast, the mediocre Wild Wild West would not necessarily be a waste of five dollars on a tuesday night or matinée.

If you expect either an action movie, a western, or some f/x intensive sci-fi movie you're going to be disappointed. This movie is a tongue-in-cheek mixture of all three with plenty of gags. I thought this movie was intelligently done (not necessarily a Pulitzer story, but it's meant to be cheesey), the acting was decent, and the effects weren't "knock you out of your seat" like some lame ArmaIndeImpactVolcanoZilla action flick, but they were an integral part of the movie. Expect an intentionally cheesey scifi/western/action/comedy and you'll have a blast. Ignore those "1/10" votes - most likely by mainstream enthusiasts biggoted against anything with a hint of independant thought. 8/10
