This is a wonderful, light, feel-good movie. It has good costumes & period music. The morality is not great, a warning that it's not a young family movie. But it did what I wanted - engaged me and left me smiling at the end.

I had the fortune or misfortune to see George Clooney's "Leatherheads" in a double bill with "Mis Pettigrew..." And it made me appreciate even more how good a film "Ms Pettigrew..." Fantastic acting job by Amy Adams and Frances McDormand - the final ending was a little rushed and cliched and I didn't see how the Frances McDormand and Ciaran Hinds characters could have hooked up based solely by what we saw on screen. But I was charmed and walked out of the cinema with a huge smile on my face.

I throughly enjoyed this movie, as did to younger friends of mine. It was a quality piece of work and we walked out with smiles on our faces. Well done. Regards, L. Winchester.

A charming, delightfully entertaining film with wonderful performances. Welcome to a world of lavish delights. A world filled with fashion shows, cocktail parties, and the latest gossip. You won't be seeing any Oscars come from this film, but as a date movie, you can do a lot worse. Take your loved ones to see this and have a nice, good-natured time at the movies. If nothing else it will put a smile on your face. Possible best for over 45 crowd. Why did this remind me a bit of an Editt Piaff type story?

Such a disappointing film. Terrible writing with cliched lines like," I've been waiting for you all my life." Over the top theatrical performances are more suited for a Broadway musical. But hey, if like art deco, the set design and costumes are gorgeous.

I found this movie quite boring. The storyline was too simple, and the characters were unbelievable--exaggerated and silly, even for a comedy. One good point was the costuming and some of the sets, such as the scene at the Savoy. If I had to rate the whole experience of seeing this film, rather than just the film itself I would actually give it a minus ten, since while I was at the AMC forum, teenagers were acting up a row or two ahead of me, talking through the film, guffawing, jumping from their seats and waving their hands, trying to block the screen. After a while, they became even more aggressive, and intimidating. No AMC employee came in to check on things at any time during the showing. In the end, I had to leave. When I came out, there were no AMC employees in the corridor. I had to leave the cineplex, go down two escalators, and then ask permission to come back inside to speak to the manager. When he showed up, he was very nice and polite, and sent someone back upstairs to speak to the kids, but he also indicated that these situations are difficult for AMC to control. He seemed to think it normal not to have any staff checking what's going on, while customers are watching a film. I mention all this, because it's not only a question of annoyance, it's a security concern. If things get out of hand, the customer is stuck there with the bullies and no one to help.

I find this movie to be quite enjoyable. A little boring at times and it did sort of seem more like an episode than a movie but it was still very well done. I pay close attention to art direction, sets and music so I must say that all of that was excellent. The acting was also very good. Amy Adams was very adorable and Frances McDormand fit her role perfectly. Also, Lee Pace was in it and I squeeled with happiness when he came on. The movie had a few flaws but it is worth seeing if you like those kind of movies.

Entertaining whimsy that doesn't take itself too seriously. If you like art deco period pieces with careful attention to costume and setting you will enjoy this film. Amy Adams is a bit too frivolous as the social butterfly but Frances McDormand balances her character with an earnest, sensitive characterization of Miss Pettigrew. Ciaran Hinds is avuncular as her romantic interest and the film ties up the loose ends of the heart by the third reel. Hardly a morality tale, but in its gentle pretension the story is likeable enough and it does deepen in tone as it proceeds. Though one can lead a modest life, even face a tour of duty on skid row, to have the courage to soldier on while being true to oneself is the greatest achievement. This simple message redeems what would otherwise be a slight, trite comedy.

Light comedy, very light comedy. Amy Adams tried her best to carry the whole film by herself, but she couldn't do it alone. Frances McDormand playing Miss Pettigrew thought she may have still been playing in North Country, she wasn't funny, nor intelligent; she was plain to serious for the part. Wait till it plays on regular TV.
