For someone who's experienced addiction, delved in trafficking, and is currently studying pharmacology, this film was a dream come true. Its common sense that drugs are bad, but depending on who tells it and how its told can make the difference between propaganda and education out of concern. This movie has achived the latter and with style.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] ... WOW... this film really does effect you on all levels. After watching this film I felt emotionally drained and physically sick- but I'd gladly watch it again tomorrow. It should be conpulsory veiwing for all the kids out there who think drugs are cool- how cool will they feel in a few years doown the line when they end up like Jared's character with missing limbs... Watching this film is an experiance you must encounter. Its amazing what a guy and his girl will do for their fix.

No movie in this genre has ever been more powerful. Incredibly depressing due to the realism. Make sure to watch a comedy afterwards!

One of the greats out there. If your looking for a main actor in this story you won't find one, In this movie addiction is the main actor and you will just love it.

Requeim for a Dream is one of the most impressive and disturbing films within the last five years. His film depicts modern western culture in its death throes and decaying rapidly. This is set in a world that has lost its way and in turn its soul. Not even love can cure this sense of despair and desperation. Darren Aronovsky is where its at in contemporary cinema. Along with P. T. Anderson, they really are at the cutting edge of popular cinema. Not to be missed especially on the big screen.

After watching Pi, I was excited to see another movie by the same director. Requiem For A Dream proved to be just as good. It is true that the movie can be depressing as well as disturbing, but it is worth watching, even if you are a bit squemish. Well made, and well shocking.

This movie is fully awful. Aronofsky cannot get away with this anymore. There is no symbolism in his work. He is not 'unique' or 'different' because he's spitting student film techniques at you, and he has zero vision. My dog could make a more entertaining film. Do not watch this movie. Next to Stealing Harvard, Requiem for a Dream is the worst film I have ever seen in my life.

It was a very engrossing Movie. I really enjoy dark drug movies, and this one ranks right up their. It makes you glad to not have a serious addiction like these characters.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This is about the best novel to film translation I've ever seen - it shows a remarkable sympathy from the director for the style and pace of the book. Hubert Selby wrote an anti-manifesto for all ages that has been sadly buried in the cult classic pile while they still teach "Go Ask Alice" and "Christiane F" in schools. This story blows them all out of the water, written by an author who - by all accounts - definitely "went there, did that". Only William Burroughs compares. If you like this story, check out the other Selby film adaptation Last Exit to Brooklyn. I've still not seen the film, but the book is as good and I've heard the film does it some justice. I just hope they never make a movie of "The Room", the darkest of Selby's books, set inside the head of an imprisoned psychopath - it makes Requiem look like a kid's fairytale. As some of the most extreme literature legally available, I doubt it could even get a classification. In Requiem, look out for a cameo appearance by Selby as the nagging prison guard in the kitchen scene near the end - a scary, scary man.

First viewing left me astonished and somewhat disturbed. The filming and artistic side of this movie are incredible - refreshingly different from your average Hollywood flick. The soundtrack is WONDERFUL, very powerful images... I really really enjoyed it.

There are at this point about two movies in the world, that I would give 10/10, and this is one of them. This is a fantastic and very weird movie, but in a great way, though not as weird as Darren Aranofsky's earlier movie, "Pi", but this is much better. When I saw it the first time, I had to skip school next day, cause I was too depressed - no bull. There is something about it, that cannot be described - it's truly a masterpiece. It's extremely touching in a tragically way, and it makes you feel very bad in the end, though you can't really find out exactly why. Every living person on earth should watch this movie. And if someone doesn't like it, because it's way too weird and just SUCKS, that person is not very bright and have very bad taste in movies - that is not to be discussed!
