A wonderful story with an intriguing setting. I was captivated by the story. I will recommend this to many.

This film is both warmhearted and eye-opening. The warmhearted side comes from its underling message. The eye-opening part comes from the contrast of the rich and poor in India. The acting, storyline and directing are also fairly well done, but these are not the highlights of the movie. By the end, you will be counting your blessings.

I loved the trip to India. Great realistic ending too. Not to tragic, not too happily ever after. The story started slow, but it was very emotionally moving in the middle.

How refreshing to see such a great movie! Finally a must see for all ages. To think that some Hollywood schlock movies make millions. This movie should be more recognized than anything out there. This is why I go to foreign films!! My teenagers liked it as well.

There are no words. It is captivating, and show what movie making is all about.

Makes no sense, poor acting. Unbelievable characters and non motivated actions. Very unrealistic portrayal. Better of with any other good movie like Tropic Thunder.

Jorge Luis Borges once wrote: "Sure of my life and my death, I observe the ambitious and would like to understand them"... well, me too! Amal has just reminded me of that again. A must see for those who are not addicted to Hollywood:)

Excellent story, fine acting, beautiful scenery. Asks and answers the timeless question," What makes happiness? "

One of the best movies I've ever seen - would love to get a DVD copy for my collection. If anyone out there knows how or when it will be released, please let me know.

A very powerful narrative with excellent character development. Finally, an intelligent Indian film that beautifully portrayed the streets of Delhi onto the screen. The ending was especially worth mentioning, and really left me thinking. This is a wonderful film with great acting. GO SEE IT!

I love Indian movies, but this was very disappointing.

Hard to find films like this anymore. As usual, Hollywood serves up few films that can match the intricacies, the ethos, the strive for morals, and rare looks at human good and evil. It looks at what most people want... money... but it looks at the other thing that everyone wants... love others and be loved. It is an incredible look at how simple man's polar desires can be... but can we simply choose only one of those desires? This movie challenges that. I loved the ending, it is not typical and predictable, it leaves us with a question of who am I? Can I be Amal? I want to be Amal, but can I really really be him? A 10!

I liked this movie very much. India was the star of this movie in my opinion. Great story, very thought provoking. The ending disappointed me, not because it was a bad ending but because it made me realize that good is not always guaranteed to triumph in the end, as we would like. I think I will be thinking about this film for a while to come yet.

The story, cinematography, acting, sound effects and music are all excellent. It's a great triumph for the Canadian film makers. I couldn't help but muse about what is really important in life.

Best film of 2008. I was astonished at how AMAL transported me to the streets of Delhi. A wonderful, intelligent, heart warming story that simultaneously made me cry and cheer. This film really questioned my perception of wealth. Loved it!

They don't come much better than this. A modern day fable that lifts the spirits. A visually interesting view of New Delhi. Easy to follow but most off all a refreshing optimistic view of the power of kindness and honesty in a jaded materialistic world.

A wonderful and inspiring story that is extremely well told. I am in awe that a young Director on his first big feature could do such a great job of drawing the viewer into the drama and the characters' lives. Even messing with our values and what we would normally want for the protagonist. Well done.

Excellent movie. Great Performances. The movie is so well made that the final result in the movie becomes irrelevant, you just flow with every scene without waiting to find out what happens in the end. A memorable experience.

Unbelievable!!! This is the first and only film I have see that shows India in it's true, unadulterated, unglorified beauty!!! And the profound spiritual messages of this film are like the culture of India itself. Incredible!!

Great cinematography, acting and story. My 9 year old was not too interested in the story, except when the cute little girl was on-screen.

Quite possibly the best movie of 2008 so far (I think I liked it even more than Wall-E), Amal is an amazingly rich story that makes you question what 'success' really is. Nothing is obvious about the plot or storyline. The movie moves along slowly and unpredictably. The entire thing is filmed in Delhi and is a great essay into how sometimes the poorest of men are the richest. Most definitely recommended. Not to be missed.
