Touching true story, amazing acting, very real, human, intimate
A moving love story, that you will remember always. Makes my best film list. Excellent!

This is a challenging movie, with excellent portrayals by the two major players, and a good supporting cast. It's a love story, but it questions the mad kind of love which can florish in such a difficult time, with tragedy so immanent either from falling bombs or the gestapo. Love can be messy, and life can be messy and dangerous, and this movie doesn't romanticize too much or simplify that fact as so many movies do.

A powerful movie, which demonstrates in graphic detail how national socialism, as an ideology, was capable of turning ordinary people into monsters.
