It's a natural. Great acting and great storytelling, economical and beautifully paced. It coasts along on its own emotional rhythm, hitting all the high points without slamming them home. There's a lot of complexity in a straightforward plotline, along with a lot of wry humour. As for the politics, they talk about the real reasons people join up and the real problems they face when they come home.

This movie was disjointed and lacked fluidity. I like Tim Robbins as an actor but with the overly obtuse character and poor scripting his acting was disappointing and below sub par. There was no character development as the characters lacked any real depth making the movie very predictable and implausable. For a movie placed in the Comedy genre it is seriously lacking.

Touching... insightful... endearing... true... Never a dull moment, but in a different sense than an action film. This movie sparked sooo much conversation between me and my friend... it is a smart moving about the realities of life after war... all this talk about our troops and what they are doing for us... how "thankful we are"... it's all good in theory... but what is life really like for these soldiers. Who's taking care of them when they get home? Can we really understand the magnitude of what they are doing? Sooo many questions come up in watching this film... All three characters are multi-layered. No one is perfect. They all have their demons. They are true to life people. Highly recommend this movie.
