This movie is much better than Batman but not as good as the Godfather part 2.

More subtle in its tongue-in-cheek humour than, say, Best in Show, and fails only in its overly stereotypical depiction of a small town, which naturally will exaggerate the seeming quirkiness of the Hollywood-types, who of themselves are not so extraordinary, in the end.

A cute movie. Funny, witty, and a little bizarre, it has its moments. Good acting, I especially enjoyed Sarah Jessica Parker playing the ditz. You'll probably find it boring if you're not too bright or imaginative, so if you think you'd rather go see "Miss Congeniality", you probably should.

This movie is by far the best I've seen this year! It is constantly entertaining! Anyone who didn't enjoy this couldn't have caught all the subtle humour. Alec Baldwin was great in what was essentially a spoof of himself; the same can be said of Sarah Jessica Parker. The real star of the movie, however, was William H. Macy. The poor guy is always a bridesmaid, never a bride, but he definitely carried this movie. What a performance! State and Main is a must see for everyone with an IQ over 100.

This was a really good movie very funny and entertaining. Alec Baldwin and Charles Durning shone in this very original and funny movie. To me it is a sure oscar contender and golden globe winner. It even won a prize at the cannes film festival if you want to see this movie you better hurry. Good screening.

This is a movie about a film producer going to shoot a movie in a small town (Vermont). It displays how the whole town is turned upside down. The lives of the actors, the script writer, and the local people changes as they meet each other. Good acting and interesting story line.

What a funny movie! I always loved David Mamet's work although he usually makes dramas or thrillers he always had juicy, witty dialogue and this time he uses that same type of dialogue in a comedy that actually made me think of some of the work of the Coen brothers like fargo for instance. This is not a slapstick comedy this is a comedy based on regular people in smalltown America which lives are suddenly turned upside down when a Hollywood director comes to their town to shoot a film starring the heartthrob of the moment (played wonderfully by Alec Baldwin). The rest of the cast is equally wonderful but I have to mention I particuly liked Rebecca Pidgeon's performance has the bookseller she actually kept the rhythm imposed by another great actor Phillip Seymour Hoffman. It is not a masterpiece and it is not the best of David Mamet but as far as comedy goes I definetely give it my seal of approval over any other dumb comedies that we are bombarded with at this time of year.
