I really enjoyed this movie a lot. Had a great message for parents who want to make their children do what they want to do and not what the child wants. Didn't hurt that all the actors were terrific - I especially love Marcia Gay Harden and Ellen Page.

It is a common coming out movie, but I believe the biggest mistake the producer made was not using professional skaters. The viewer wants to ride with the characters but unfortunately it doesn't ring true.

This movie was brutal! Bad acting, bad story, and boring! I almost walked out of this one. I was very disappointed. Ellen Page is just her same typical character, and the only good acting comes from Juliette Lewis... but she's hardly even in it. Lame.

I recently saw this movie in a theatre and I have to say I am very disappointed about the movie. It does thrive to be more than an average movie but falls flat due to a lot of flaws. The character development does exist to some degree but the fake acting (grins, smiles and over acting) shared between characters never reaches the natural stage of human expressions and suffers greatly because of them. Avoid the movie is what I would recommend.

This movie was funny and a great movie of a girl coming of age. If you liked the humour in Juno you will like this one too. Ellen Page, Juliette Lewis and Drew Barrymore give an excellent performance.

In my opinion, the stunning cast made this movie. Chemistry and acting were spot on. Ellen Page was phenomenal, although it seemed apparant that she can't roller skate very well. I was thoroughly absorbed in this movie. Go see it, you won't regret it!

Drew Barrymore did a fantastic job, and Ellen Page was the best person to play the lead role. I liked the action and message in the movie. I dont know why people wouldn't like it, I thought it was very entertaining.

Very funny, very smart movie. A solid directorial effort from Drew B. Lots of good acting from a very strong cast. The action at the boards is dynamic, shot so that you get an appreciation of the dance and athleticism as well as the raw guts of the roller derby. The family story is very emotional without being sentimental. Great work from Marcia Gay Harden, Ellen Page, Drew Barrymore, Alia Shawkat, and Andrew Wilson is wonderful as the zoned coach.

As a derby fan, I was very excited to see it. I was a little disappointed that there was more Ellen and less derby, but overall, I enjoyed the movie.

Definitely not the strongest Page movie. Most it's the story that kinda... well... was... sucky.

Ellen Page was ok in the movie, but it was just more of her typical character. Everyone other character (especially the guy she likes) is TERRIBLE in this movie. The story line is predictable and unoriginal. All around terrible movie. Very few laughs to be had.

I don't understand how anyone that is not a preteen girl could enjoy this movie. I honestly wanted to leave at about the 30 min. mark, but stayed because my gf wanted too see if it would get any better. It didn't. This was one of the worst movies of the year.

Love it! Go see it right now. I think that Elen Page is great in this movie! Without talking about Drew Barrymore! Just amazing, the way Roller Derby is presented in this movie is great! I'll go see it over and over again! I'll be the first one to buy the DVD. ;)

OMG, after reading reviews on this site, decided to see this movie. WRONG CHOICE! If you're over 16, don't waste your time. Predictable, terrible acting (with the exception of Page) and the story could have been portrayed much, much better.

Really good movie, good sets, funny, and non-stop. Ellen Page really steps up and plays an awesome role as a nerd turned Superstar of the roller-derby. A must see for everyone.

Not a bad movie. Loved the roller derby scenes. Ellen Page is a fab actress and carried the movie. Boyfriend and coach were both weak actors and could use some acting classes.

I generally agree more or less with the average ratings. This was an "8" so we went. Pretty disappointed. Ellen Page was the only thing that was really good. None of the other characters made us care about them. Pretty weak.

Good movie, but not great. Funny one-liners and some slapstick, but that's as far as the humor goes. Some of the dramatic moments fell flat, but overall, worthwhile entertainment.

Ellen Page is absolutely luminous and riveting in this film! Nothing "typically Ellen Page" about it, unless her typical is first class!

Wow! I'm totally surprised! Drew Barry is not only a beautiful actress but a fantastic director as well! I really enjoyed this film. Grab a date and go watch it. I especialy liked the realistic human relationships. So believable. So much like real life. This movie isn't really an escape so much as a beautiful portrayal of actual real life situations. Go Babe Ruthless! Go Ellen Page!

Very good movie about a teen coming into her own and the clash between her priorities and her parents. Ellen Page is excellent as usual and has a strong supporting cast behind her. Well worth the money. A feel-good movie.

I loved it. Lots of laughs. Good coming of age and breaking away from the parent. Her Dad was awesome and all the other familiar faces from SNL and Drew were really great too. I left wanting a poster and a pair of old school roller skates.

This is a nice directorial debut for Drew Barrymore. An enjoyable coming of age movie, with strong performances by Ellen Page, Marcia Gay Harden and Juliet Lewis. Alia Shawkat is also a standout as the best friend. The plot is a Texas version of "Bend It Like Beckham" where Southern expectations of femininity compete with an all women, trash talking roller derby league. There is a decent soundtrack and the roller derby sequences are well done / exciting.
