The only movies that come close to this are American Pie (1 & 3, not 2) and the Matrix. They come close. This is the best movie ever. Even though on my site I do not rate it as good as Am Pie 1 or Matrix, that is because I see a lot of people being offended by this, especially Catholics (I'm Catholic, but I can take a joke) My mom hates it, my sister loves it, my Dad thinks it's ok (best of View Askew) and I think no movie dare tangle with Dogma unless they either a) have a death wish or b) is made by Kevin Smith.

Ok I'm reading some of the reviews "made no sense "..."Very stupid story ".."Bad acting, terrible script"..." I saved myself by walking out part way through" you people don't know shss about movies. The acting was good and the storie line was great. Alot of good actors in the movie and it was very funny. If you like really funny movies then you have to check it one out. Don't read the bad reviews becuase those poeple don't know what there talking about... must see film.

Definitely not for everyone. Has a lot of profanity. While some ideas are truly hilarious where the writer failed to find humour he substituted vulgarity. My wife couldn't watch it. I liked a lot of the ideas and several made me think about the true nature of God (not to mention Matt Damon)

This movie was hillarious. It's for everyone, (provided you have a decent sense of humour!) I absolutely loved it, but noticed that not everyone in the theatre agreed.

This was a great movie I don't know what you guys were thinking walking out and all. This is a movie that shows religion in such a different light. I do agree that this is not a movie for everyone, you must be able to take a few pokes at your religion while watching this movie but hey thats what makes it so good.

Well, I have to say first that I loved the movie. For those people who didn't "get" a lot of the jokes in the movie, you should see the rest of the Kevin Smith movies, in order, and then watch this again. And another comment, to the person who said, "Very stupid story line and I found the movie very annoying cause it makes fun of God and angels...": Get a grip. This movie was a joke, and btw, I am basically opposite of a Christian/Catholic, and I don't go around giving bad reviews to movies that make Satan and demons look bad now do I? I guess that person just can't take a joke..

Jay and silent Bob were totally awesome. If you enjoyed Jay and Silent Bob then I recommend Mallrats, Clerks and coming soon Jay and Silent Bob star in their own movie Jay and Silent Bob strike back. Not to mention Chris Rock! The boy is so funny that you might end up pissing yourself laughing... just watch Lethal Weapon 4 and you will see what I am talking about. Well in the words of Jay... schnoochie boochies bhodie noochies.

I loved it!! This is worth-seeing! Linda Fiorentino is great and the plot is original. I thought a LOT after seeing this movie about religion and, especially, catholiscm. I will never go to church and feel the same again.

I love how Smith brings back the same actors. This was a great movie. Very funny. Anybody who didn't think it was funny just didn't, has no attention span, or no sense of humor. The ideas in this movie were wonderful. A very unique and funny perspective on theology. The fact that Alanis Morrisette played god was hilarious. I'm not even a fan of hers. Clerks is still my favorite Kevin Smith movie though. I can't wait for Smith to come out with his next movie.

Good movie, funny and original story. Linda Fiorentino wrecks it a bit with her bad acting, but the rest of the cast makes up for it. A movie worth seeing.

I think this is one of the most refreshing films of the year. For starters, it made a Matt Damon and Kevin Smith fan out of me. It's just nice to see that Mr Smith, even though he had a few big names in his movie was able to create a story that in fact may not please everybody, but is jam packed with witty yet insightfull and at time quite profound dialogue. It speaks to me as a Christian, but more importantly as a fan of artists who don't simply create art to entertain people like Mr Smith. They challenge us, they make us think, while still keeping us entertained and, to a certain extent, on the edge of our seets.

I noticed that almost all the bad reviews here are made by french speaking persons, first of all,If you don't see this movie in it's original form, that is in English!you lost 3/4 of the jokes. Second, if you can't understand a movie, that doesn't mean it's a bad movie. So all of you can go see Big Daddy or other lame-ass pc comédies churned out by big name actors just to make a buck on past glories. I hope Kevin Smith continues to take chances and entertaining us for a long time to come.

If nothing else, it makes you re-think rigid religious doctrine. Could be offensive to strict followers of the Catholic faith (a friend of mine refused to watch the second hour), but in spite of some really silly scenes (the s**t demon, for one) it was an interesting and often funny movie.

See this movie if you want to look at Ben and Matt on the screen together, otherwise don't bother. This movie made no sense and there were too many cameo performances that took away from the plot of the movie. This movie could have been so much better if there was more of a focus on the plot than of a bunch of cool scenes thrown together that didn't really go together. Sorry, but I didn't buy the ending either. Get real!!

If you are locked into any of those "Organized" religions that tell you how "God" want you to live your life, you probably won't like this movie. If you are more open minded and believe that God (whichever name you choose to give Her) is in all things, then you should be able to get past the Catholic Church Bashing and enjoy this movie for what it is: A thouroughly entertaining commentary on what the church has become, and the best bang for the buck in theatre these days.

Hello there. If you are looking for a non stop adventure, well this may not be your movie. If you like great and realistic dialogue and at the same time seeing Kevin Smith show how funny a poop demon is, this is your movie. But i must agree that this movie is not for everyone. This movie is dialogue-driven and by many surprised viewers, the effects were,in my way of saying, a parody. Kevin is a genius, he makes me want to pick up the bible and look up stuff he wrote in the movie. But what I really liked about this movie is that god showed up! I got tired of seeing the devil causing all the trouble, while the lord was never to be seen, in this movie, kevin isn't scared to give his opinion of what god is like. This movie does have weak points, but hey, not everything is perfect, so try to concentrate on what he was trying to say in his movie, it's beautiful and true.

You have to take this movie with a grain of salt (or two). This movie is funny, but not laugh-your-brains-out-funny. A bit too violent sometimes, but overall a pretty good movie; kinda of "Ã la" Pulp Fiction sometimes.

What is every body here talking about???? This movie is a masterpiece in the independant, low-budget filmaking category... This movie is the proof that a subject as old as religion can still be actual. I thought the script was great and very original. How often do you see subtle humor and complicity like the ones you see here? Nothing else to say that this a weird and moving movie that not everyone can understand...

Hysterical and original. Dancing between social commentary and side-splittig humor, Kevin Smith makes another magnificent movie that is sure to please anyone who "gets it."

Excellent movie! A milestone in Kevin Smith's legacy! I applaud his guts for tackling the subject.. the movie's basicly just a huge conversation bout religion with Smith's touch of "subtle" humor. To truely get his humor I highly RECOMMEND you watch Clerks, Mallrats, AND Chasing Amy. I found it refreshing to see a movie which touched something that's taboo in society. The characters were well developped with Ben Affleck playing the dramatic driving force in the movie. I HIGHLY recommend this movie (unless your favorite movie was Blood Sport) and to anyone who didn't like this movie: hey! it's satire!

Would the church ever resort to this kind of "change"? Probably not, but it was a funny look at "what if". Nothing like poking fun at religion. Agreed this wasn't one of Kevin Smith's best movies, but it was a quirky as the others. It has some great moments and just thinking of Jay and Bob as prophets is just too funny.

Not funny, not witty, no real story, not original. My money is wasted. Linda Fiorentino was so annoying. She wouldn't stop rolling her eye balls! Matt Damon was the only one worth watching, but we only saw a glimpse of his abilities as an actor here. The ending was even more of a disappointment.

I applaud Kevin Smith's courage. Dealing with the subject of religion in movies has always guaranteed some sort of controversy. This movie does a good job keeping your attention for two hours even if most of the action is talking. The dialogue in this movie is what impressed me the most and will most certainly upset some. The ideas in the movie are well presented and delivered convincingly by a fine group of actors. I sat there and laughed but more importantly I thought about what was being said. A very good satire. Bravo again to Kevin Smith.
