I am still looking at reruns on TV - it was a beautiful film, wonderfull music by Jarre and I never tire to see it over and over again. But I too would like to know what was the message in Paolo's egg?

Personally I liked the movie. I thought it was good. Can't really tell you if any specifics were out of touch with the reality of Africa. I've never been there, although one day I wish to visit the continent. It just sounds and looks like a great place to be. I'm tired of computers, technology and all of society. I want nature damn it!

I just came in to read the reviews, and am disappointed that the majority of people did not enjoy it. Can I suggest you read the book? If you have ever spent any time in Africa, you will certainly fall in love with this book!!!

I am from Africa and I think that movies like these are insulting cause they only show one side of a very beautiful continent. Africa is much much more than just safaris and animals and naked men living in huts. I dreamed of Africa is disgusting!

Besides the great scenery of Africa there is nothing positive to write about this film. This flick leaves you with more questions than answers. For example, there is this talk about this great secret in the egg hanging above the bed, keeps you in somewhat suspense. But they never tell you what's in it! And the ending just leaves you hanging. Another plus would be if you like Kim Basinger because there are some scenes where she looks sexy and more. But still not worth the money. If you like scenes of Africa watch PBS instead, trust me. If you wanna be bored to tears then go see it. Even my date, who loves "chick flicks", didn't like it.

Keep your money and watch Discovery Channel: you`ll see breath taking images of Africa, something the movie failed to provide its viewers. The views are ordinary and cliché, everything you`d expect to see in an américain movie about Africa. In fact, the whole movie is ordinary and cliché... nothing surprising. It is shallow. When her husband and son die, the miserable attemps at writing poetry by Kuki spoil the moment. Bad acting, no character development and no information about Kenya`s culture. Rent Out of Africa, watch Anilmal Contact on TV. Please. AND, WHAT`S WITH THE EGG?

A miserable attempted to copy the "Out of Africa" style and success. The film was predictable; character development is extremely weak; events are over-dramatized and the story line progresses without good rhythm and in a boring way. The film's biggest flaw is that it contained too many cliches about Africa - snakes, violence, poaching, wildlife/good scenery (although even this they failed to do in an original, interesting way) - all themes we've seen before and are frankly quite tired off - its time Hollywood took a refreshing new look at Africa that accurately and sensitively reflects the dynamics and complexities of this beautiful land, its people and its history, rarely seen on N. American movie screens. A very disappointment film.

This is not a movie for people who expect "African safari" action. It's an amazing movie for people who do dream of Africa, and the slow paste of the movie gives of a feel of life there. Some twists are predictable, but the movie is overall very good. Makes me wonder what I'm doing here...

I dreamed of Africa is a good movie. I had higher expectations, but I still recommend it to anyone who likes beautiful sceneries of Africa and an ok story of a strong woman defying life and its surprises to go see it. There are major gaps in the script and in the acting but some other scenes are excellent, making it a 7.5/10 movie. I believe that much more could of been accomplish with that story would of the script been a bit more worked on. Or maybe the editing was really poor. Anyways, enjoy.

Breathtaking... informative... inspiring!! Gives you hope, passes on a powerful message and takes you through an exotic, awesome country all at the same time. Don't leave until all the credits are over - there are some amazing landscape shots!
