The only movie I've seen in recent years that comes close to the sort of compassion due frontiersmen. It's little wonder Hollywood distribution channels squashed it -- they want the world to forget who paved the way for them to cross the Sierra Nevadas, and what it took.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
Slow movie. And very weird ending. The beginning was promising but the end was long and uneventful. It's like reading a thick book without a real ending. People are killed without remorse. The guy can cheat but still loves her. Dillon has no remorse after 20 years, but if he does, he burns the town down. I don't get it.
