The Ice Storm is a good depiction of our disposable society. While this film starts off at a leisurely pace showing the self-serving impotent society we live in, the drama begins to unfold. It is tragic that people cannot show their love for each other until there is death or separation. The nuclear family goes awry in this tale of postmodern chaos. The director does a great job of building the movie up by making us familiar with what is going on. We are part of this society and, if given the opportunity, we would probably act just as the characters do. This reminds one of Joyce's The Dead with a nuclear twist. The movie hits home with the realism taking place. The ice is all over, overtaking everybody in the movie. It overtakes humans and machines. It makes people uncomfortable to be with each other. People's weaknesses and vulnerabilities shine through, making them susceptible to emotion (something which was overtaken by sheer self-serviance and lust) We get a reality check in the most realistic of ways. This is no science fiction;these things happen all the time. Which is why it is perhaps a lot scarier than horror.

Ive always been a fan of Elijah Wood and I think that this movie brings out that he is a fantastic actor, I enjoyed it... well done to every1 who helped make that movie. Luv sue.

It's 1:25 am and I just woke up to find out, that the world is really messed up... I just saw this movie in the comfort of my own living room, but after it finished, I felt anything but not comfortable... For an unforgettable emotional experience, you've got to see this one (I can't even believe, that this came out of hollywood...)
