I loved this movie. I found that it made very real characters of the people who crewed the ship and their loved ones. I believed the peole and was totally on their side throughout their ordeal, even though I knew how it turned out.

I loved THE PERFECT STORM -I have the poster movie book two cds (had to buy another one because the other one was scratched) I must of seen this movie in the theatre 3 times- I wanted to go a fourth time-but no such luck. Since I think that George Clooney is cool this movie was good for him-with him as the unlucky captain of the Andrea Gail-It was even on tv and I watched it! I even know what the real crewmen looked like- the actors are more cuter! This is a true story-and it tells the story of how deadly fishing on the beautiful sea can be-and how the ship tryed to survive the storm-but lost the fight in the end to a 100 foot wave that probably no ship could get across-death and fate created the storm-to show humans what nature can do so we will be more safer with whatever dangerous job we have! I even have a painting of the ship-in memory of the lost fisherman-who lost thier lives just trying to make a living-and support themselves and thier familes! THIS FILM IS DEDICATED TO THE TEN THOUSAND FISHERMAN WHO HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES TO THE SEA SINCE THE BEGGINING OF TIME. LIVE ON-AND FISH IN HEAVEN BOYS-I HOPE THAT YOU ARE HAPPIER IN HEAVEN THEN WHEN YOU GUYS WERE ON LAND!

The only reason I wanted to watch this movie, was because it had talented actors like Mark Walberg, and George Clooney. The movie was ok, but at the end you are like, " ok..... Just die... Finish. Get over it. Die" the movie just drags on and on for no reason. But all in all I actually liked it, and don't regret seeing it.

The predominant character in the film was the sea itself... Everyone else, inexplicably missed their marks, even my beloved George Clooney, who otherwise can do no wrong! I think the movie 'drowned' in its own enormity, a fact that is painfully exaggerated on a larger screen, sadly. The actual events of the movie are, naturally, specualtive, especially towards the end, but that didn't stop me from pulling for Clooney's and Wahlberg's characters, right up to the bitter... oops, did I give it away? !? By the end of this movie, I felt as if I had been through the wash and the ringer, and it squeezed not a few tears out of me at the end, truth be told.

Daniel gave this movie a 6 stating that he found they could have done so much more with the story line - the characters were all bla, leaving you with a feeling that you missing part of the movie... he enjoyed the special effects and was scared during certain parts like the big fish part lol I enjoyed the film giving it a 7 - agree with Daniel that they could have done so much more and that they didnt really make you feel anything for the characters... I didnt like the ending... I loved the waves would make for great surfing... to bad for all those fish... and felt they could have done more with the sailing boat... sad story... -BETTER TO SEE ON THE BIG SCREEN BUT ONLY IF YOUR PAYING HALF PRICE!! -

If you go and see this movie, you will lose 2 hours from your life, $11.00 from your pocket, and you will realize what a really all around boring and unintelligable American movie is supposed to be. This is the worst movie I have ever seen, I have never been so disgusted by a film before in my life. Not because of it's content, but because of it's lack thereof, it's repetitive score, it's complete lack of a decent story, and it's pointless monologues. This was a complete failure.

What an atrocity! How could this be a true story if no one survived to tell the tale? How do we really know what happened? Hollywood strikes again! The movie tried to be another Titanic but there was no build up of the characters and I found that I didn't really care that they had died! A VERY disappointing movie!!!

I thought the movie was long, boaring and that George Clooney should have stayed on "ER" which he couldnt act on tv either. My 13 year old son loved it, he loved the special effects. True story? How would anyone know what really happened if no one survived. It is a movie though that you have to see on a big screen otherwise it would really be a waste of time.

The perfect crap! The effects are very good, but you can't base a movie on only that. It tried really hard to be a serious film, but it was just plain dum! Furthermore, it is NOT A TRUE STORY!!! The thing happened off of NFLD (but that would not have been good enough for the Americans) and nobody, NOBODY knows what happened on the ship. Pure American crap!!!

I found this movie very touching and I wasn't bored for one second. However, warning: lots and lots of water! Everybody should lighten up about this movie's authenticity. It is based on a true story and doesn't have to be 100% accurate.

The movie was more hype then anything else. The only parts that were good were the special effects for the storm. The story dragged on for the first hour and never really went anywhere. But then again "I like to fish. "

SPOILER ALERT!!! This movie blew the proverbial chunk. BASED ON A TRUE STORY!? ! Who lived through the whole thing? No one. Who the hell talked to them on the radio? No one, the radio was broken. So how can they make a 2 hour movie "BASED ON A TRUE STORY" if they didn't have any facts! There are so many holes in this movie that it couldn't hold the 80 tons of water they used to make it. You want to see water go see this movie. You like special effects, then go see the movie. Otherwisem, complete waste of time. NOT EVEN A RENTAL!!

We went to watch the movie tonight and we think it has quite real effects. We felt as if we were inside the boat and it was really very sad that none of the fishermen survived to tell exactly what happened. Eventhough we wished that they could survived, we believed that it was a bit imposible to do so since it was the "The Perfect Storm".

I saw this movie last night, and was quite impressed with it. Although the beginning was very slow, when the story came to a climax I was sitting on the edge of my seat every time a wave crashed down on their ship, waiting to see what would be the outcome. I was sure that at least one of the crew members would live, to tell the story. It's disappointing to think that the story is only half true, but it felt as though it was real all the same.

Very disapointed... How can this be based on a true story when there are no survivors? Makes the hole story bogus, especially after the long beginning where you see all the relations with the sailors and their familly members. Was expecting much more from Wolfgang Peterson.

A mini-titanic of the modern age. As a long time admirer of CGI, I surely wasnt disappointed in A Perfect Storm. The scenes of the Andrea Gail in her final moments was enough to make you grab for your raincoat. Admittedly, the performances of the actors could have been better, but all-in-all, an enjoyable movie to watch.

I went into the Perfect Storm with low expectations and was actually pleasantly surprised to find a solid, interesting plot and nail-biting adventure. The ending was quite a shock and very tragic. I thought the beginning was necessary in fully developing the characters, although the pace was slow. All in all, a good movie.

I went to see this movie last night and I have to agree with some of the comments out there. The graphics are really good, so if you go see it, go see it on the big screen instead of waiting for the video to come out. The movie is just that, BASED, on a true story. They cannot really say for sure what the ending is, so they just made it whatever they want. It's a fine ending, dissapointing, but fine. The beginning is a little long, but necessary to set the plot and characters. All around it is a good movie, and worth going to see. I recommend it.

There could have been better character development; however the screen writer didn't take the time. If you are interested in watching 30 foot waves crash over a fishing trawler for half an hour go and see this movie (yawn, yawn).

Very good film. I am little surprised that some people have mentioned that the digital waves did not seem realistic. I lived in South Africa for 8 years near the Cape of Good Hope which has the worst storms in the Southern Hemisphere - let me tell you that the scenes are exremely realistic. I have weathered a few storms with swells of 30-40 feet and it looked just like the real thing. I went into the film with an understanding of what happened to the Andrea Gail and its crew, the battle must of been absolutely terrifying. I thought that the characters were well developed and found the acting to be right on the mark. I think that this film will stress out a lot of people as the thought of being in the middle of the ocean with 50+ feet swells and 200 KM winds will make your stomach cringe. All in all a classic little flic with plenty of story and effects.

I really wasn't expecting much from this movie, but I am surprized to generally have to characterize it as boring. While the images in this film are impressive from a technical point of view, I can't find much else good about this movie. The actors are burdened with an unbelievably-hokey-even-for-Hollywood script. Lines like: "Here's where we separate the men from the boys"... When the captain is showing leadership or "I got a bad feeling", which gives the ending away. Oh pe-leeease! Furthermore, much too much time is spent at the beginning of the movie establishing "relationships". This reminded me of the Poseidon Adventure. Finally, when the crew meets their ultimate destiny, no sense of the horror of the situation is expressed. Another cliché note: the captain electing to go down with his ship. As if THAT made any difference!
