Good music and Characters. Every movie should have some Beatles music in the soundtrack. Was Luke Wilson's character's lifestyle really that socially taboo? I don't get that one.

One of my favorite movies! Great ensemble cast. Great cinematography. The music fits perfectly. A must see if you like off-beat quirky humor.

It's really diffent from the other Wes Anderson's film. I think it's... kind of better 'cause the film is... Actually, I don't know why it' better but it is. It's more funny. I was'nt suprised when I knew that this movie was in nomination to the academy award in 2000 for the best screenplay.

I love comedy, but this is a very very poor movie. No joke, not even funny a little bit. I didn't laugh at all. No story, no thrill, nothing. Avoid that movie, it's a real waste of time!

If you like Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Bottle Rocket) you'll love this - his masterpiece so far, in my opinion. The humour is subtle and touching. The scenes are beautiful, simple, the characters intricate and deep, stark and endearing. I fell in love with this film and have watched it over a dozen times, and it neveer fails to make me happy. Not for the mainstream movie crowd - if you can sit through 8 Mile or whatever and actually be entertained, then this movie's probably not for you. But if you find mainstream humour to be stale and overdone, if you enjoy psychology and the oddities of man, then absolutely - this one is a gem.

According to this site, "1 out of 10" rating means "Worst ever, avoid at all costs". Surely this movie richly deserves this rating... no discernible plot, bad acting... this movie is a train wreck!

Quel film affreux!!

Very strange film. That's why I liked it. The characters are quirky, and well done. While funny, it is a thoughtful funny, not a belly laugh funny. Also, you don't really get on the characters' side, so I didn't find I had a lot of emotional connection to the film. I'd recommend it to the admittedly synical with a dark sense of humour.

I'm seriously offened by people who said that if you have a brain you should see this film. It was awful, twisted, and boring. I was incredibly tempted to walk out of this movie, but decided against it. I guess I was hoping something good would happen... but I was sorely disappointed.

For my it's a good film, maybe because my life with my family was similar. Angela Houston is great and I saw Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Stiller in others performance characters, was good. And... , what I can say about Gene Hackman? Always génial. I repect all the comments, but for my, the history of this movie and the performaces of the actress and actors was excellent. My mother always say " the life is in your heart, feel it when it beat when you know simple things..." David From Chile.

A great comedy that was so funny. The humor is dark but still so funny. Young kids would not find it funny but for the older people, you will laugh your head off. I give this a 10 out of 10.

Surprisingly good, quirky, "dark comedy". Clever writing, good acting. We (reluctantly) saw it with our (adult) children and were delightfully suprised.

This was one of the most skillfully crafted movies that I've seen in years. If Arthur Miller and Mel Brooks collaborated on a movie, this might be the outcome. Subtle in its comedy and bleak reality, it's funny and almost haunting at the same time. Very well done, and possibly the best movie in which I've seen any of the cast members.

Horrible movie. I turned it off about 25% of the way through and went back later hoping that maybe like wine it would get better if it sat for a while. No such luck, this is honestly the worst movie I have ever seen. The contents of the storyline could have been accomplished in about 15 minutes. This movie drags on and on and on.

This movie kept me laughing the whole time. The humor was very dry and strange, which suits my preferences completely. If you're tired of watching the same old slapstick Hollywood humor and want something a little more sophisticated, then I suggest you watch this. You definitely need an appreciation for the bizarre to enjoy this, but if this includes you, then I strongly recommend this.

I was so looking forward to seeing this movie, with its extraordinary cast. There were a few funny moments, but other than that it fell flat on its face. Couldn't bear to finish watching it... quirky where it shouldn't have been and not quirky where it should have been. Save your money folks...

I found this movie to be the kind you either really love or you really hate. It's packed with really dry comedy... it's got a great cast, but I sat there feeling a bit at a loss... I thought there would be more to it, and felt kind of disappointed nearing the end. It wasn't horrible, maybe one I'd see again, but not one that I'd buy to own.

Before reviewing any movie the writer of the review must hold some knowledge of what he or she is analyzing (film) Looking at some of these prior reviews its obvious some people need there art spoon feed. This is one of the most intriguing films of the year. A great cast, great script... GREAT FILM!

I loathed this film. If characters are to be the crux of a film, the characters should be believable or, if not, at least likeable.

I love this movie so much I want to marry it. I watched it twice in a row to make sure it was as funny as I had originally thought. My stomach still hurts from the laughter and my brain is still spinning from the character development and delivery. I feel very sorry for those who didn't fully appreciate this flick.

I honestly don't know what to think of this movie, many critics have said that it was a masterpiece, but I beg to differ. It's a sad, depressing look at a disfunctional family and I think we got our dose of that in American Beauty. This movie was well shot, the actors are convincing but it's missing that je ne sais quoi to make movie goers latch on to the story. A few funny moments (Ben Stiller's character and his children doing the fire drill) but mostly bland dialogue. Not a comedy, yet not a drama. Too bad they couldn't decide maybe it they had it would have turned out much much better.

Okay, I heard a lot of things about this movie and I saw it for myself. Here are my 2 reviews. One for those with brains and the other one is for out. With Brains Review - This movie is excellent and Gene Hackman does an excellent job as a father who knows he should love his family but takes awhile until he realizes that he actually does. There is a scene at the end with Ben Stiller that will touch anyone who has ever had a fight with a relative and then one day realizes that life is too short. A review for those without brains - DUh, this movie is dumb because it takes me brains to think what is funny. Too hard to figure out... uhhh Me likey boom boom in movies. No Boom boom. Where is the bombs? The title has the word bombs in it but there is none... duhh.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
Surely one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The movie depicts three genius kids, that have grown up to become depressed, paranoid, reclusive, hermits with bad highgene. In the end they all reunited with their absentee father, then he dies. The character development was so horrible that in the end I wished that they all died due to their utter dullness and their flawless personification of roiting human feces. The entire movie was rather dull and pointless, I won't recommend this movie to my arch nemesis, but I would recommend it to someone who suffers from insomnia, after 25 minutes I'll gurantee that insomniac will be out for the count.

I found this movie to be in the genre of Todd Solondz "Happiness" and was quite entertaining. The movie is rich with innuendos, and is quite charming. You need to be awake to see this. Not a movie for everyone.

This was a great movie!!! I would definitely go and see it. Its entertaining, with sad and happy, funny and dramatic scenes in it! The three kids (Paltrow, Stiller and Wilson) were wonderful, and Owne Wilson was great to. I would defingalty spen dmy money on this movie. Its absoloutly fantastic!!! And do you realize that this is the fourth movie where Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson have both had big roles... they were both in this movie, then Zoolander, Before that Meet the parents, and a while back a movie called Permanent Midnight. And they both act well together!!!

Intelligent movie or stupid movie about intelligent people? You decide. I heard all the hype and I finally went to see it. I ate a whole bag of chocolate Easter eggs in the process (what with it being Easter and all) then found myself enjoying a story I created in my own mind about a group of ragtag computer salesmen who get fired, then break into their place of work to steal an X-Box while one tries to track down a mysterious cry for help that only comes through one account on his computer screen. If not for my imagination, I would have given this movie a 2 or a 3. It had its moments, but it was, for the most part, dreary and boring. I suppose people will tell me I didn't get the point. Well, maybe I did, maybe I didn't, depending on what the "point" is. I figured out the whole clashing-colour- clothes- and-walls- symbolizing- the-dysfunction- of-the-family thing, but still looking at all those mismatched colours made the backs of my eyes hurt after a while. The best part of the movie was the Hey Jude instrumental during the opening scene. Oh yeah, and what was with the Charlie Brown Christmas music being played twice (at least) in different points in the movie? See? I was paying attention. If I had gone to see it at 9: 40 instead of 7: 10, I would have surely slept through most of the movie. Surely. Complaints of this getting an Oscar snub? SNORT! This movie belongs nowhere near an award of any kind, even something as meaningless and politically-motivated as an Oscar.
