Three Kings is your basic Hollywood action movie with some laughs here and there. There are some liberal notions along the way where it shows some American criticism which makes the movie honest in terms of looking at the first Iraq situation from different perspectivs: US soldier, Iraqi rebel, Iraqi soldier, Iraqi people including different types of muslim people, American citizen and so forth. The director and the author made a good effort into showing a well rounded movie.

Hi! Here's a good and question and an easy one to those who have watched the movie: Which is the song (a begees song-like) used when a GI and guy are in the same car and the radio plays this song (a seventies pop typicall song) ? If someone knows the title, please let me know. Thanks in advance :)

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
I was expecting a so-so movie and the beginning was certainly nothing to write home about. But as the Three Kings got deeper into the local political situation, the movie took an incredible surreal turn. The director shows a real desire in wanting the viewer to understand each individual's situation. Hollywood movies tend to show American soldiers as heroic and morally incorruptible and an enemy with no redeeming values. The soldiers in this movie are all in the gray zone. The Some of the violent scenes were absolutely chilling. Personally, I would have preferred that they tone it down a little so those images wouldn't still be floating around in my head. At first, I couldn't have cared less about what would happen to the Three Kings. But by the end, I was on the edge of my seat wanting to find out what would happen to the main characters and to the villagers to whom they promised a safe passage out of the country. The ending was very satisfying. The photography was outstanding. The acting was excellent. Having seen this soon after the toppling of the Hussein regime in Iraq, it could have looked hokey had the story been poorly crafted or jingoistic. It's a credit to the director that the movie remains riveting. I will be on the watch for David Russell's movies in the future. It wasn't a perferct movie, but I give it high marks for its originality.

Takes the pi_ _ out of the arabs. In the real gulf war the americans were shi-ing in their pants and plus if it was a true story then those three american soldiers wouldn't last for 10 minutes. Could have made the movie interesting and could have made it more clear to how the people are suffering Not bad, but I could make a better movie!!!

An alright movie... Not the best... But it was okay... I wouldn't pay much to see it but if theres nothin better to watch this will take up plenty time... It was funny at parts, gross at parts (map shoved up a guys ass? !? ! Eeww!!! ), but the whole thing was sooo slow!! The movie dragged on for like what seemed as forever!!! Could have been way better but still an okay flik to catch. =)

Good movie. I wouldn't have paid the $10 bucks to see it at the movie theatre, but a really good movie to rent. I recommend this movie to those of you who don't know what to rent on a Friday night.

It's a cool movie with lots of action, not necessarily violent eventhough it's after the war... the music also gives a good atmosphere and you feel into the movie really quickly. Don't miss it.

I went to see this movie having never even heard of it before. I was pleasantly surprised by the first half of the movie with the direction of the story, its slightly off-the-wall style, decent acting, and good cinematography. Was this too good to be true? Unfortunately, yes. I was disappointed to see the second half of the movie degrade into the Hollywood "shoot-em-up" movie mentality which showed absolutely no originality or imagination in comparison to the first hour of the flick. Personally, my recommendation for this one would be as a rental, but, to end this on a positive note... thankfully the plight of the Iraqi people was portrayed in what seems to be a fairly accurate manner.

Stylish and original, this movie about the Gulf War has an important message to tell. The movie's dark humour is not for everybody but it's a must see for war buffs!

THREE KINGS It's a drama, a comedy, and an action movie all jammed into a 2-hour time span. Sound good? If so, why did I leave the theatre with such mixed emotions about this movie? I give this movie a lot of credit for convincing us that George Clooney, Mark Walhberg, and Ice Cube could actually be buddies. I also give this movie credit for assembling some incredibly original footage and camera shots in certain scenes. Finally, I give this movie a lot of credit on its realistic script. In fact, if you try to imagine the things you would say if you were placed in their situation, its pretty close to the things they actually DO say. So, what's wrong with this movie? People in the theatre, including myself, got a little confused on which parts we should laugh at and which scenes we should find dramatic. For example, there is a scene where a number of soldiers are shooting each other. It was shot in slow motion and made me really tense and scared to ever be in a war-like situation. Meanwhile, some people in the theatre were laughing. The same thing happened in a scene where Mark Walhberg was being interrogated by one of the Arab soldiers. Is there a problem here? Another criticism of the movie would have to be its length. If the Arabs hadn't hidden their treasure so well, they could have saved some precious time in this movie. Overall, it's worth seeing, but perhaps go on Cheap Night or wait for the video…

This movie provides with a satirical black comedy approach on a manufactured war. Some scenes of violence were quite unecessary but Marky Mark's acting was impressive and so was spike jones. As for Georges Cloooney he is a better Dr. than soldier. Good movie and the comical aspect of the plot was great. Not to much Arab stereotyping and it presents a good dilema that makes good post movie-cofee conversation.

OK, the movie did rise above the American good-guy thing, but it was still highly predictable - so the gorgeous American soldiers find true heroism, and realize that there are no real good guys or bad guys. There's a uniquely American revelation. Overall, pretty mediocre.

If you like the Coen Brothers or anything off-beat and if you like action movies, this is the best combination of genres I have seen in a long time. Provocative, hilarious, touching, gut-wrenching... it has it all. The cast is tremendous and the direction was brilliant. The best film of the year in my book.

It was not the movie I expected from seeing the previews, at first I had mixed feelings, but I must admit it was different and the actors, especially Whalberg were very good. I wil go see it a second time and let it flow.

Ok... I'll tell u something, I was so close to not going to this movie coz I thought it would be another movie that would take advantage of making fun of arabs like the Siege ...I was very very impressed by the directing, the movie was amazing, they gave the good impression about arabs and in the same time did not make the americans seem like the heros they really arent!!! The acting was definately good, especilly Ice Cube's acting!!! great job made on the movie and the effort was definately worth it!!!

After having seen this movie tonight I had to write my comments: "What a STUPID, SENSELESS MOVIE. George Clooney should have stayed with ER. Another Hollywood American ''we can do no wrong on the battlefield'' film. Not even worthwhile as a Video Rental! A TOTAL BOMB!" (12/10/99)

This is a rare film in which a blend of humour and serious issues come across well to guide us through a story of greed and human compassion. I was pleased with George Clooney and Ice Cube. This is a movie that is a must see if you want to move away from your mainstream Hollywood trash.

Typical Hollywood fare. They take a niche concept and make it appeal to the masses. While there is action, humour and some interesting directing, the film looses its edge towards the end. Gets kinda corny with all that mighty U.S. army stuff....

This movie was very interesting and in some parts, confusing. I agree that seeing a cow get blown up was pretty humorous but that wasn't really the point of the movie. The three kings is about four american soldiers who want to steal millions of dollars worth of gold and in the process, they find out the hard way how the war prisoners are treated. These four soldiers go to the extremes to save these people from a certain death.

This movie was an excellent representation of truth. It's about time that people wake up and face reality about what really went on in 1991 in the Persian Gulf.

Nice. I liked the sense of humour. And the actors G.C. and M.W. look good :) A story about today's world and war. Denouncing the US's I-dont'-care-about-the-suffering attitude. It's sort of a classic hero faced with money vs. life & honour choice story... Has an interesting historic & documentary side to it which I greatly appreciated. (quit watching WW2 reruns, see the 3 kings!) A good movie, but whose ending really ought to be more elaborate, so as to measure up to the rest of this amazing story.

This movie is great and difinately worth seeing, the only thing is that I don't get the rating system. Who rates these movies? I went to Imax theatres and it was rated "G" over there. Here it's "PG13" which I think it is still low! In the movie there were seens of a man and a woman having sex, an exploding cow with all the blood on the people, and a woman's brain getting blown off! This is like rating the "Godfather" rated PG13. If you can possibly send me some information on the rating systems and who rates these movies, I would grately appreatiate it. Thank you.
