Slow but interesting. I liked the ending. It could have used more excitement during the middle.

Nice plotline and the fact that there was a casualty that wasn't expected by the investigators who set up this sting operation, gave more credibility to this film. Though the rewind and rewrite senerios may have confused some people (like the ending of the movie CLUE) the breakdown of possible senarios is part of the detective work that forces your mind to examine what you really saw, and conversely what really happened and ultimately it was an extravagent plot to ensnare a corrupt command post leader who was dealing in drugs within the US Army. I hope to see the 8 Ball Group again in another movie. Could be are real over the top film if done correctly.

Nice thriller and story. I like the end and the actors. It is a must, you should rent it if you didn't watch it yet. Good movie.

Suspenseful and corny at the same time.

Nice thriller. Can't say more if I don't want to ruin, not only the end, but the whole developpement of the movie. Travolta is PERFECT for the role, Jackson is also PERFECT for the role and more good actors. The movie is pretty well done. A lotta thinking, not a movie you rent after a long day of work. This is REAL entertainement. C0nfuzi said so.

The twist ending made certain point in the movie not make sense. I hated it, which is suprising because I have never hated anything John Travolta has done.

I've seen episodes of 'Scooby Doo' that made more sense than this movie, even though the script seems like it may have been written with Fred and Thelma in mind. It's absolute junk. Honestly, Travolta could have pulled a rubber mask off his head and transformed into a goat and this movie couldn't have been any dumber. My four year olds' storytelling is more rational than the storytelling of whoever wrote this thing. Drugs must be reaching epidemic proportions in Hollywood..

For anyone in the military, this movie will seem absolutely ridiculous. No one with any military experience could have been advising the production crew about how stupid and unrealistic this pile off garbage is. I am embarrassed for all the unfortunate actors that found themselves sucked into this disaster. Who signed off on this thing? Who was brave enough and stupid enough to take credit for deciding this movie should be made. See this movie if you want two hours of your life to be sucked from your brain and flushed down the toilet.

This movie made me think. I enjoy that. I would put this movie in the ranks of 2001: a space odessy, as far as mindbenders are concerned. Certainly the best thriller of the year. J. Travolta and s. L. Jackson provide an outstanding show.

A lil confusing but Travolta at his best and a must see here.

Wow John is so hot and sexy in this movie. It was very good and not a lot of down time. Busy movie. I really enjoyed it. Plot was good. Acting was good. What more could you want?

The movie story was quite sloppy. The pieces were not well put together. It was jumping from one spot to another.

One word (EXCELLENT) MUST SEE... Travolta at his best.

I was pretty surprised by this movie, given that I wasn't really in the mood for a war type movie when I went to see it. Very good ending though, pay attention to the details.

John Travolta seems pretty confident about his role and played well, just like his highlights in "sword fish".

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Help! I saw most of the movie but had a medical emergency during the last 5 or 10 minutes. Could someone tell me in a few sentences the twists after Tim Daly gets shot by Connie? Thanks.

This movie is mind bending, keeping you at the edge of your seat. Lots of twists and turns, great action, and you would never guess the outcome. One of John's greatest.

Basic will not go down in history as one of great thrillers. That said, it is very good. It kept the audience guessing until the very end. Samuel L. Jackson and (a newly buffed up) John Travolta are both excellent and make the movie worth seeing. Connie Nielson, however, will not be getting the Oscar nod anytime soon.

I enjoyed this movie. The plot was well panned out, with exciting twists. Also is different from many movies I have seen, which always a big plus.

If you are expecting a suspense the caliber of "The Usual Suspects", then this is not the movie for you. On its own, it's an entertaining movie with the typically good acting from John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson. But in the end, it tries too hard with one too many twist to make it a classic thriller that grips you to your seat.

Basic is a great military, ''detective-style, '' thriller, reminiscent of John Travolta's previous foray into this genre, ''The General's Daughter, '' while raising the ante.

You need more than a pea brain to understand this movie. When you have watched a lot of this kind of movies, it's easy to guess the plot. In that sense it was too predictable for me. But it's not a bad movie. And it seems that a lot of people didn't understand even after watching... :)

The movie... was interesting. I liked Travolta's performance, I think he's a great actor. But other than that, the punch line wasn't all that great. After the movie ended I was kind of thinking "... and? " but all and all, it was nothing grand, but not a bomb. So see it at your own risk! And... also, good company helps! (ps. Trav rocks!)

Simply put - if you liked the movie Usual Suspects then you will love this movie. If you like the "who did it" type movies then you will love BASIC, and each time you think you know who did it - you get thrown a twist which makes you have to guess again. Ah!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I loved the movie with all the twists in the plot but found Connie Neilsen's attempt at a southern accent distracting. At first I thought the character was european then northwestern american then realized as the accent became more consistent towards the end of the movie she was trying to be southern!! (I think) All other actors did a super job.

Travolta has so much more potential than that. One of those movies that make you feel like you have seen them so many times before. The surprise ending is BORING.

Well, if you like "twists" in a movie, you won't be disapointed with this one. Just how many "twist" there were, only after seing this movie a couple of time will you be able to count those unrealistically twisting scenarios, it just never ends. They were so many twist, that you actually don't remember what this movie is about after seing the same scene in 6 different ways. So if you like unrealistic intrigues, this is the one for you... Again, I can't believe those people who give it a 10, or a 1.

Wow, I justed wasted over an hour and a half, too much money and whatever in gas for this? Disappontment and I should have read the reviews first. This is John Travolta at his absolute worst. Too bad.

The movie was alright... the ending was so unrealistic all I could do was laugh. The only bright spot in the movie was Johnny T's acting. He was the perfect actor for this part. Go watch it... but on cheap night!!!

Phenomenal, bought tears of fear to my eyes half way through, yet still delivered a powerful blanket of assurance in the end. Travollta and team just dazzling!

One of the worst movies I have ever seen... and I've seen a lot. It was a huge waste of time and energy. Every 10 minutes the plot changes with no rhyme or reason. You stop caring, since you know it'll change again after another 10 minutes or so. Not a confusing movie like others stated, just a movie that gives the viewer little or no facts to go on. The ending is pure Hollywood care bear happyness fluff. Not even a rental. Avoid!
