Great movie. Just when you think the end of the movie has happened, something else is stumbled across. Surprise ending, I had no idea that was coming.

I left the cinema thinking who's who, but then after thinking about it and going back over the clues that were dropped casually, I think I know. Do I? This is a must see, but take Lt. Columbo with you.

As everyone else says this movie will make you think and most likely confuse you at one or more points. It keeps you guessing and keeps you interested throughout. It's worth seeing for sure.

Although the movie was very interesting, the four of us that went to see it together all said the same thing when it was over - what just happened? We will have to watch this movie again and not blink this time. Awesome movie but be sure to bring your thinking cap.

This has got to be the worst military movie ever!!! They should have burned the film as soon as it came out of the camera. I don't think they even hired a military advisor for this one. They got so much stuff wrong in the movie. Uniforms are wrong, procedures are wrong, the whole movie is wrong. I am a Military Policeman in the U. S. Army and I tried to get my money back on this. These people need to hire an advisor for to help them with the military. To everyone who thinks this is a cool movie, join the Army and find out how it really works.

Confusing to the extreme! When you think you finally got the story, something else happens to mix you up. Still they keep you on the edge of your seat until the end. Good performance for Mr. Travolta. Overall a very good movie.

I liked this movie, but it wasn't great!! Travolta is up to his usual tough guy chram and delivers a good performance although I must say that Nielsen's performance was sub-par. Although I would not go see this movie again, it was worth a Tuesday trip to the cinema. Could be better on rental...

John has been in better roles but was still nice to watch. It's definitely a war movie with lots of bang bang shoot 'em up stuff in it but not a bad movie to sit through. It was fast paced which I was grateful for. Paying close attention to the plot will help but won't really explain much until the very end. I enjoy a surprise ending.

This movie unfolds in a manner not unlike "The Usual Suspects": the more you learn, the less you understand. I have seen the words "war movie" used by some, which this really is not. It is a suspense/thriller with a military backdrop. I would disrecommend this movie to sensitive souls who are upset at the sight of blood or graphic violence, but strongly recommend it to those of you who are looking for an exciting movie. Also, Connie Nielsen (Gladiator, The Devils Advocate) is a surprisingly good match, playing opposite Travolta's machissimo persona. Enjoy!

This has to be one of Travolta's best films ever, or at least in a while! It doesn't stop leading you on till the very end, and even then, you will walk out of the theater wondering what just happened. It was entertaining beyond what I expected! I would even go see it again paying the 10 bucks! Whenever this movie comes out on video it's a MUST BUY TOO! Only thing I think was a bit off (NOT THE PLOT or NOT THE STORY) was Connie Nielsen's southern accent. At some moments, she was totally American, then it went to Texan, then French (which I still don't understand!) then back to like Tennesse or something! That was the only thing that I got confused at, but upon remembering that it's just a movie, I got over it. But I digress, go see it, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!

I thought the movie stunk. It took place almost entirely during a hurricane. All actors were continually wet, with loud rain and very dark all of the time. Very unrealistic plot and ending. Don't see this movie. The popcorn was the best part of the evening.

This was one good action/thriller. One of the best I've seen in years. John Travolta, Connie Neilson, and Samuel L. Jackson are superb in this movie. Kinda gory at the one part with Giovanni Ribisi, but I love blood, so... Wicked movie.

It had a nice intrigue into it, yet some aspects of it still remain a little hard to follow. Some things should've been kept out of the film. I recommend you rent it, cause some long time talking and interrogating can suck the life out of you in a movie theatre.

I thought the movie, "Basic", was an exceptional piece of theatre. It made my mind twirl like a big tornado. It hurts me how beautiful that hunk of a man John Travolta is. He is so dreamy. Go John Go.

This is a movie that you will *definitely* want to see in the theatre, and NOT wait for the video. I liked the way the story kept twisting, and changing, right till the end. The only down side I found was the *flashback* scenes, were getting a little repetive after awhile. Still a good way to spend a couple hours.

Great movie except for some plot holes, like for the white guy, the army could have taken his file and find out the name he used wasn't his. Great performance by Travolta, unpredictable ending and finally a movie that makes you think, definitely in my top 10 list of favorite movies of all time.

I thought this movie would be good... But it was aboslutly excellent. So far the best movie I've seen this year. The first twist you think awe I get it now. Then there is another twist and you see Oh NOW I get it. Then another comes and you just say okay now I get it its so simple. Then the "last" twist comes in and finnally comes and you go okay end of movie then it hits u... GO SEE IT... But there are a bunch of parts I still don't get so I'm gona see it a few more times.

'Basic' was gripping all the way through. It had enough twists and turns to keep you attentive to every word and visual. Although the background was military, and a little murky at that, the essence of the movie was the solving of a mystery. It had a little more violence than was necessary for the overall strength of the plot, but still acquitted itself overall with a good story, good twists and turns and the right ending. John Travolta did an honourable job, as did Connie Nelson and the others, and all were credible to the credit of the casting folks. Well done. Enjoyable enterntainment. Catherine.
