I am a big fan of musicals but this was a big let down. Meryl Streep was good but Pierce Brosnan can't sing at all. The theatre burst out laughing as soon as he opened his mouth--poor guy.

I did enjoy this movie, although it's kind of a silly story, but the music was great, if one likes Abba and a musical, this would be more than worth while to see.

I have seen this movie 3 times and have to talk myself out of going everyday or talk someone else into going with me that hasn't seen it already! I enjoy all the major stars singing the ABBA tunes... they stay in my head afterwards, but we already know that about ABBA songs, right!

I thoroughly enjoyed it, went with a couple friends and we laughed, we cried, we hummed abba songs all the way home. Very entertaining movie. I LOVE the three "dads" they were really great, and what they lacked in singing ability, they more than made up for in effort.

It was trully a "feal-good" movie, simply tramming with musical happiness!! Meryl Streep's ability to sing was surprising! It was fantastic, a real musical, complete with the full chorus line!

Yes a masterpiece - EXCEPT - I had a nagging feeling - the music was written by a lot of Swedish people... who - previously - were mainly noted for introducing nudity to the world... or - and flat rye bread...

While the movie doesn't come close to being as good as the stage production, it was a totally enjoyable feel good movie. Meryle Streep was surprisingly good singing, especially The Winner Takes It All. Loved Colin Firth's character. You'll tap your feet and sing along to the music!

Musicals should stick to just being musicals. The songs were fun but the story is not strong enough to be a film.

I absolutely loved this movie. You have to be a Musical lover to enjoy it or you'll find it cheezy. A group of nine of us went to the sold out show and we all left the show saying we were going back another day to see it again... SO FUN!!!

If you like musicals and abba music, this is for you. The scenery was breathtaking, and the acting was fabulous. Everything was perfect, except maybe for Pierce Brosnan's voice, it was the only disappointing part, but not enough to bring the score down to 9...

Saw the stage production which had better singers but this was lots of fun. Went with my daughter who was having a tough day and within 5 minutes, she was smiling. Meryl Streep sings surprisingly well; most of the cast held their own (Pierce Brosnan being the major exception) Looks like the cast had a great time making the film and I certainly enjoyed watching it. Every person coming out of the theatre had a smile on his / her face.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
I saw this movie in a VIP Theatre that holds about 100 people in loungeback chairs with table service. The audience tended toward the 40+ and female (I am 60 and female) but a fair sprinkling of all ages and both genders attended. I can safely say that we laughed until we nearly fell out of our seats and that after the post-movie ABBA concert we left with tears running down our faces and wondering how we could ever explain this movie to anybody. I would say that my overall feeling was that it's a giant ninny-boo to the size two seventeen-year-old bratz who sneer at us Boomer Wimmin and the men our own age who dump us in favour of these stick figure bratz devoid of life experience. Mama Mia shows that regardless of your age and regardless of how silly your spangled jump suit with the four inch platform shoes may look, you need not care because, darn it, life is FUN! And not only Meryl Streep demonstrates this, but her two buddies Tanya (who does a wonderful show-stopper on the beach that simultaneously allows the young guys to find her a Hottie AND has the good grace to just enjoy the moment and drop it right there) and Rosie (whose invitation to Bill to *Take A Chance On Me* up to and including pursuing him cross the ridgepole of the hotel had us in hysterics) prove that no matter how you look or what your age may be, life is too short to stop having fun just because you are no longer seventeen. And that no matter what mistakes you may have made when you were young, you can make yourself a good life and it is never too late for that happiness you thought you could never have, to find you. Oh, and it was a nice touch to have one of the so called fathers be gay as well; like the other lifestyle choices people made or did not make (including the young black bartender flirting with Tany), it was tasteful and matter of fact and there was no message about it. I went home feeling that even though the only course I ever failed was social dancing, in my heart I am still the Dancing Queen. And I bet nobody went home from Batman feeling like that!

There is quite a difference from the movie and the stage show. The producers left out some of the songs that were in the stage show, I highly recommend that they do add them into the deleted scences when the DVD is released. But on the other hand... IT WAS AWESOME!!

Wonderful movie, a must for ABBA fans. The one thing, I know some were worried that Pierce Brosnan was going to sing and I think he did okay for something out of his element, I shall take everyone and see it again.

Fans of ABBA will love this movie even though the cast could have been better. It is a movie that you can just sit back and enjoy without thinking of plots and sub-plots and most of all no violence---a feel good musical comedy!

I enjoyed the movie though I'm not a professional film critic like some of those who commented. I.e. those very few who were disappointed. It really picked me up. I was the only one who clapped at the end, ( I think in the USA viewers must be shy)! I want to see it again, I liked it so much. My favourites were Meryl and her two girlfriends. They were a hot! This movie appeals to all ages. Meryl was superb in "The Winner Takes It All". She has a great voice. It was good to hear original voices in this film. Thanks.
