This movie was very very creepy even if it didn't have those smeagol creatures waiting in the dark to eat you. It makes a great choice for a horror movie.

This is a truly terrifying movie. Even if it didn't have creatures lurking in the darkness waiting to eat you, the movie would still be terrifying for the claustrophobia it induces, especially watching the girls crawl through the extremely narrow cave spaces on their bellies! Many scenes are very tense and the creatures are very simply designed but effective. The storyline is straightforward (one could even say there isn't a storyline as such, just an adventure) A must see.

Another great horror film from Neil Marshall, The mood is set really well in this film, The blood and violence is very intense at times, and it has a great ending.

For horror movie lovers, I think you will appreciate the efforts of being creeped out by the little disgusting creators! Not the best movie in the world, but was enjoyable for me :0)

I think this is an excellent horror/thriller that plays on basic human emotions and fears. There are two great things about this movie. The first is the cast. A group of seemingly average women who once plunged into this underground death trap all become very unique and interesting to watch. Secondly is the setting/premise of the movie. A small cramped cave underground is the perfect local. Unlike movies like Daylight (with Sylvester Stalone) Descent does an excellent job with plot, action, and suspense. The girls are not helpless but the movie does a great job of bringing you to a point were you feel they may not make it out. Descent has an excellent premise and does a great job playing on basic human fears. This movie is a great rainy day (or any day) flic (unless of course you are claustrophobic ) ;)

If you like horror movies, go see it! Maybe it's a bit long before it starts... But it's worth it!

BAD BAD BAD!!! This movie had nothing interesting in it worth watching. The "scary" parts were laughable and there was no true suspense. Sorry for those who liked it but it is not for me and who I went with. Not even a DVD rental.

One of the best horror movies in years. It is scary and gory even before the monsters arrive. If you like horror movies this is a must, but you will get scared.

Wow! Now thats what I call a damn good scary movie. The suspense is so intense you can almost taste it. You'll be talking about this one for while! A must see for those who like horror.

This movie was freaky. Lots of parts that made me jump out of my seat. Ending left something to be desired. Was good because unlike some horror flicks that are blood and gore right through the entire movie this one had a story line and didn't use gore to carry it through. Would definitely recommend seeing it in the theater. Although it is easier to hide your face in your shirt at home... lol.

What a waste of time, stupid boring, some actresses are not bad but hope for them they'll do real roles sometimes.

I saw this movie because it got good ratings, and I was not disappointed. There were moments I covered my eyes, and I don't do that often with horror films... highly recommended!

I dont get the hi reviews on this film, It was basically the same story as The Cave. But at least with that film they kinda explained where they came from. This movie has no real story or imagination. I would be pissed if I paid to see it. I guess since its getting hi ratings I can only guess its because people think just because a movie has some major gore in it, then it's a good movie. Well Im glad I have more imagination than them...

Scary... Yes, as lots of movies, some parts are predictable, but still, lots of awesome scene and scary parts. The audience were nailed at their seat. A must see.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] The lurkers were translucent, which was scary, I wet the bed so thats why I give it a one. As soon as I realized its gonna be a bunch of women in a cave I should have left, and would have spared me that pointless screaming. Many explanations miss (the lurkers come out to hunt, but nobodies ever seen them, yeah right) at least I had a laugh or two. Spoiler - the scene at the end where the girl is climbing up through the millions of bones (hmmm a lot missing people to not ever be heard of again) and the ray of light from above with the not at all fitting hero-music was a cinematicly catastrophic suicide.

Claustrophobic, intense and gripping. I was expecting another cheap teenager-filled schlock horror film. What I got was an emotional story.

This movie was very good and very suspenseful! I had heard some feedback from others and seldom heed the advice of others when it comes to movies but this one stood up to the good feedback. I absolutely love horror films but over the years their quality has diminished greatly as they have tried to go very mainstream and cliche with corny villains and the all too predictable scenes... but this one definitely stands out over most recent suspense thriller horror films... you will find yourself somewhat captivated and on the edge of your seat through much of this... the claustrophobic nature of the film really adds to it's suspense and capture of the audience... the creatures that are the villains of the movie are somewhat realistic and make this movie more believable for a horror type of film... If you like horror or suspense-thriller movies than I definitely recommend you check this one out as you shouldn't be disappointed!

Horror has gone from the scary Frankenstein monster of the 30's to the Excorcist of the 70's and all those ratty Jason and Friday the 13th movies. So we thought we had seen it all until a Lord of the Rings looking creature lives in a cave with other Lord of the Rings creatures and waits for humans who have nothing better to do that to prove that they can climb around rocks to show how important they are. Or whatever. The problem I have with these movies (besides the fact that I have to sit in a theatre with teenagers who can't stop talking for more than 60 seconds and constantly looking at their cell phones)is that there really isn't anything new in terms of the psychology of what really frightens us. I am giving this a 7 because it was shot really well and the scary jump out scenes are good. But really, at the end of the day it's just a bunch of chics who have nothing better to do than become the next meal for a scary looking Gollum look a like creature from Lord of The Rings who hasn't brushed his teeth in 300 hundred years. You want fries with that?

The movie does manage to keep you on your toes: kind of like having the stuck in the casket feeling on the Kill Bill movie drawn out over a much longer time (Im saying this as a good thing) If you like horror/suspense flicks, you will love it, if you hate the genre, you will love to hate this one!

"At first I was contemplating seeing 'Pulse', but decided on going to 'The Descent'. Sure glad I did". Me Too! I enjoyed this one. Big blood fest once it got going. I think they did the creatures pretty well. It was fun watching the audience freak out.

This movie is the sleeper of the summer. A great horror-scare-fest paying tribute to many classic horror films. Lots of good scares to make you jump out of your seat. Wouldn't mind checking out the original ending (apparently too grim for US audiences); hopefully it will be on the DVD. A must for fans of the genre.

Warning, not for claustriphobic people! The creatures definitely made me jump and I like that you get to actually get to see them, I hate when scary movies are all suspense and no action, this has action in it. Overall, a good scare, although I am a little mad a the boys behind me in the theatre that made jokes the whole time, isn't that the worst!?!

Worth anywhere between seven and eight. Some jumpy moments and horror but full of clichés and stereotypes. Acting is mostly ok and interesting story line. If you are the claustrophobic type, you might react a little more. All in all, worth a viewing.
