I took my daughters, ages 7 and 10, to see this. They had both seen the original and the older had also read the book. We were skeptical. Well... skeptics no more! This movie was truly magical. Not a single dull moment, yet also no sexual innuendo, no adult-only asides, no direct violence. Amazing! Johnnie Depp was at his finest as Willy WOnka and the special effects were straight out of every child's dreams - chocolate waterfalls and roller coaster speed rides down chocolate rivers in a huge dragon boat. Transportation in a glass elevator that flies through the air in every possible direction. Candy of every sort, shape and description, put together by tiny, magical creatures that break into song at the slightest provocation. A must-see movie for the whole family!
