I had my doubts when I heard they had case a woman (Huffman) to play a male-to-female transgendered person. However, her portrayal of her character's awkward transition from man to woman was very authentic. It was a touching movie that didn't sugar-coat the character's more disagreeable qualities. Kudos to Huffman, the writer(s), and director for presenting a balanced portrayal of a human being!
