Supposed to be scary? Not at all even alone at night. Little new ideas - better than the ring2!

The people who say that there were many plotholes and that the movie didn't make any sense... they simply missed to understand parts of the movie. Some questions asked and supposed 'plotholes': "Where did the tape original? " At the VERY beginning, the girl who dies says that at the cabin they attempted to record a football game but when they tried to watch it it was something else."Why did Samara's father kill himself? " He said Samara would never stop and Rachel coming to his ranch proved that."What's with the ending? " Rachel figured out that the reason Noah died and she didn't was because she made a copy (and showed someone else the video) That's why she gets her son to make a copy at the end. The reason making a copy saves you is explained by the flashback 'she just wanted to be heard'. The reason the images quickly flash at the end is mearly a suggestion the the watchers of the movie will be the next to die. Jeez, if you don't understand the movie watch it again and maybe you'll understand it. If you found the movie not scary at all, it's because you classify scary only in large amounts of gore and brutality instead of good suspense, overall creepiness, accompanied by a good plot and storyline. This movie was refreshing in comparison to horror movies just being storyless slasher nonsense.

It's not really scary but it's still an amazing movie. I didn't see it in theatres but when I rented it, my cousins and I loved it and had a great time watching it. You must it.

See the original, Ringu, it is far superior to this American remake. This version lacks thrills and chills.

This is a must see film for the true scary movie buff. The acting is dead on perfect and the montage of rapid clips that make up "the tape" is truly freaky. The greatest scary films are really not all that spooky save for that one "killer freaky" scene that you just can not forget. The Ring is the perfect scary flick.

This movie roxs!!! It is so scary! I loved Samara she was what really pulled the movie together. I got really scared at three parts: When Katie dies, when samara comes out of the T. V and when Samara is sitting in the middle of the room on the chair and she gives rachel the burn! All and ALL a Hollywood Masterpiece! Can't wait till Oct-Nov when the Ring 2 comes Out!!! Bye Anna!

Thumbs DOWN. This was just a student film with a hollywood budget and hyped promotion. A video tape that can kill you if you watch it? Is that scary?! Sure there are some good moments, the horse freaking out and the dead child in the well, but isn't in the same league as films like The Exorcist or Sixth Sense. Not a great movie.

ATTENTION!! The guy hwo said that the reason she didnt die if u show someone the tape is not true it is because she copied the video who ever copies the video doesn;t die thats y she got her son to make a copy and it has to be copied because Samara wants to be heard.

Ok, I know The Ring came out like 2 YEARS ago, but I wanted to put in my two cents anyway, for maybe another person like me out there who was searching for some answers because we're a little slower than the rest... hehe... but I wanted to say thanks to a few people who wrote crap about the movie, because now I understand. The only reason I am here, in fact, is because I just watched the movie and I was like, "You know what? I'm tired of sitting here trying to figure out what the h*ll is going on, so I'm going to get on the Internet and find out, " lol. Pathetic, I know, but I'm sick (some kind of bug or something) and right now I have nothing better to do than read movie reviews for a movie that came out 2 years ago, lol. Ok, so to the point of the movie, I thought it was so SCARY!! OMG, I saw it in the theater with my friend, and we were so scared. Ok, I was so scared of a tv for like 6 months, and for 7 days after I saw it, I seriously was afraid I was going to die since I had seen it. (I was only 14 then, so give me a break, lol) So I didn't even use my tv that whole time I was afraid of it, and I turned it around backwards, unplugged it, and put a blanket over it. It really isn't a scary movie, like Friday 13th or anything, but it is freaky... it could really happen, no matter what skeptics say or think. I mean, I believe there really are people out there like Samara, so why wouldn't the crazies like her be able to really do something like that? There are really psyco serial killers, so what is so weird in believing an evil girl with powers can make a tape that kills people? I have to admit that when Samara comes out of the tv is the scariest part of the whole movie. I was completely shocked when Rachel's boyfriend/ father-of-her-child/whatever died, and I think that really messed up the movie. Of course, that one part was probably the only part of all the confusion I actually understood... (because if you see the tape and then show it to someone else, you don't die, but they do... ) But enough of me rambling. I wanted to say, seriously, thanks to whoever wrote that all the scribbled-over heads represented Samara's hair when she comes for you, that was something I never would have thought of... and thanks to the person who wrote that there is a person in the window (actually, his sillhouette) in the back of the house when Rachel and the dude come to get their son at her sister's house... that was really freaky, and awesome, but now I want to know who that person was!!! It looked like a guy, a bald guy, or maybe a girl with her hair pulled back, but the person was really tall and big, so who could it be? Maybe the dead father of Samara coming to try and warn them? I have no idea. If anyone else does, let me know. All in all, it was a great movie, and really freaky, and even better now that I understand everything, minus the myserious person in the window... P. S. - I don't know how many of you know, because I just found out myself a few months ago, but if you watch the movie past the credits, there is like 20 more minutes of movie... like what happened that no one saw or something... it left me with more questions... anyone who would care to explain that too?

Disclaimer: no emotional involvement was put into this review/opinion. Fact: If you thought "The Ring" was dumb, you are dumb. Opinion: You're among the tasteless, unwashed masses that make producers think that any movie about a talking animal is a good idea. You went into the movie expecting loud noises and sudden movements to make you jump, and what you got was elegantly laid symbolism and a unique storytelling experience. Your feeble, sheep-like mind was unable to grasp new concepts and found the experience unpleasant. And if you wanted to see an ordinary scary movie, I can see why you'd be disappointed. There is little that goes "BOO!! " in this movie. Instead, there is a pervading sense of eerieness and creepiness that gradually rises throughout the movie. Fact: Those aren't plot holes. They're "imagination holes". opinion: It's like cutting a few threads in an afghan. Sometimes the information gaps are small enough, and you can easily see where things fit together. That's most of the movie. Then there are larger cuts, the information gap is a bit wider, and you can see a few possible ways things could fit together. Pick one that fits the theme of the movie. Use your mind. A plot hole is when Rachel falls into a deep well and lives - although Samara seemed to make it, too. Funny, that. A loose end is when Rachel doesn't continue any sort of onscreen communication with Katie's mother. And an "imagination gap" is when the information is left intentionally sparse so that the viewer can draw their own conclusions. Or maybe watch it again to see something they missed. The clues are there. If you can't figure it out, leave the detective work to the professionals. Fact: This movie is not perfect. Opinion: It's a great movie. Very well done, and worth a watch or three. Oh, I don't think anybody asked this, but where did Becca get the accurate story about the movie that kills people if their copy was an original burn by Samara? Answer: if it happened once at cabin 12, couldn't it happen again? Or have happened previously? On multiple occasions? Yes, that's right, it could have. They don't need to tell you that.

The only thing that really scared me is the sudden horror scenes, when something pops out suddenly. The Ring didn't have the ambiance that the japanese version Ringu had and compared to Sadako, Samara seems a little fake. The Ring's scary shots scared me a little, but Ringu kept the suspense all along.

This movie is so cool, you have to see it, the only horrible thing is the faces!!! That they put when they die... I didn't get the last part... why she didn't die? And why Samira or whatever her name is, she kill the cute guy... and why when the woman see the video she didn't die... ? Why did the last part of the video didn't show the girl going out of that thing?
