A bit complicated for younger children but I still enjoyed the movie quite thoroughly. Although reading the reviews I realize the reactions are quite polarized. See for yourself.

Very disapointing! Everything seems to be there but it just doesn't work.

I think it is a 1-9 year old movie and no more. It is a kid show and not really humerouse.

This movie is magnificent, beautifully animated and with themes of courage, honor and dignity that elevate the typical kiddie fare. Excellent dialogues and plenty of adventure and action.

Dark depressing movie. As an adult I did not enjoy this animation and neither did my 8 year old daughter... not recomended.

We took our three-year old grandaughter; definitely NOT a movie for very small children. She was bored or distracted by turns. A bit scary too. "I couldn't watch that cat" she said. Shifts in the story line are not easy to follow, and some prior awareness of the vison quest and other mythological elements would be helpful for viewers of all ages. Disjointed - although the shifts are a lot like the varied experiences of life, the focus of consciousness shifts between too many different characters. The narration is beautiful, but seems more like a voice from the sky rather than a storyteller. More narrative lines might help to glue the story together, and that topic might be a really good one for a discussion with your 12 year old...

It was a good story line, but I found that my son was a little bored during certain parts. I would not see this movie again.

I really did not enjoy this movie. I thought it was a wast of time and money.

The story was disjointed, it made very little sense. The mouse was not charming. It was very somber, not meant for young children. The only good part was the end, and it was only good because you could finally leave. We went in a large group, neither the children nor the adults had anything good to say. Save your time and money.

This was the worst movie I have ever had to sit through... I really felt ripped off paying for this one. I love Disney movies but this was a total flop... no storyline. Even my 11 year old couldn't wait to leave the theatre.

Please beware as this movie appears to get a variety of ratings BUT it is BAD BEYOND BELIEF. There is no plausible plot and it is a cure for insomniacs!

Beautiful animation - the physical attributes of the characters are far removed from the typical child film. My daughter and her friend enjoyed the film - although the story was at times disjointed.

Excellent movie! I took my 7 year old to see it and we both enjoyed it. A great tale about brave little mouse. Supported by a fantastic cast! I would highly reccomend this movie.

A splendid story, marvelously told... the animation was exquisite, as is most modern work, but the sensitivity towards characters, and their emotions, and their yearnings and fears, was powerful. I was more than merely amused and entertained, I was given insight, and inspiration. A fine movie that will lead to many valuable conversations on the meaning and application of courage, forgiveness, and determination to do what is Right. This movie gives glorious feasts for thought!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] They tried to do too much with too little. The story was confusing and merely a rip off of Ratatouille. A soup kingdom and Mice and Rats and a vegetable man? This either means the chief was schizophrenic or he used magic to cook with... Who knows. And some how by capturing a princess then freeing her they return soup to the kingdom and everybody lives happily ever after. This movie is clearly the first movie in a while to appeal only to children under the age of 5.

Having read the reviews before heading out to see the movie I must say I almost changed my mind and thought I'd wait to see this one when it came out on D. V. D. I'm really pleased my family and I went to see it. It was a warm, charming story that was well put together and a joy to watch. We all loved it.

Two of my friends and me went to see this movie we almost fell asleep. The movie has no plot, too many characters and very anti-climatic. I looked beside me, someone else also fell asleep. I don't recommend it.

A 5 year old and I just finished the book a couple of weeks ago. The movie was a real treat. We very much enjoyed the animation and the interpretation. Different from the book but the message was still strong! As a Mom, I really enjoyed the non-Disney quality to this film. A great story, Thanks!

Clean, adorable, amusing family fare! The action was a bit lacking; and the story sometimes could have used more forward momentum, but overall, I loved it! And I don't usually go for children's animated films. I recommend it.

I took four children ages 7-12 to this movie over the holidays, and we were quite willing to be entertained, but it was a dreadful film. Lots of frightening scenes, and no humour to balance them out. Not funny, not clear, and every adult character in the film betrays their child during the show. I think they were trying to avoid being a cliche, but ended up being quite awful. I'm sorry I watched it.

I honestly feel that we wasted our Christmas present by taking in this movie. I caught myself and my son both falling asleep (he's 7) This is one movie we will not buy when it comes to DVD. Sorry to the makers.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This movie was a big disappointment, and much too dark for young children. I wish I had read these reviews before I went. I couldn't believe they would show the servant girl retrieving a butcher knife from the kitchen before going to kidnap the princess. Could have been a much better movie. First time I have ever considered getting up and leaving a children't movie.

I chose to see this instead of Eagle eye... Worst mistake of my life! Every second felt like an hour! The textures were awful, definitely not a pretty sight. And then where did this soup come in?! What does soup have to do with anything! There was some content children under ten might find a little disturbing, which confuses me beacause if children under ten weren't their target audience, then who was? I'm Eleven and I can say that it was definitely not a movie for us! So then who was their target audience? Well anyway, the whole movie was hideous with dull colours, making the movie torture for the eyes. It lacked jokes and got quite boring right after the opening credits. So stay away from this movie and go see something worth watching. That was an hour and 40 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It was ok but I liked Despereux the most. One thing that I don't understand is:How can a mouse use its ears to fly. I don't think they should have used light colors and shades for the characters faces. It makes you think they have anorexia. Tooo depressing.
