Interesting idea, I was hooked for a while. But it would have been better if it was a 90-minute film rather than a 250-minute film. There were a couple of points in the movie where I said "OK, that's a great ending" - only to discover that it wasn't the end at all. The last 30-45 minutes of the film were just completely unnecessary, Spielberg added a syrupy Hollywood ending that completely ruined the film. Something tells me if Kubrick had been able to make this film himslef his conclusion would have been more thought-provoking and more satisfying.
