Breaking the Waves is the first film in von Trier's Golden Heart Trilogy which includes The Idiots (1998) and Dancer in the Dark (2000) It's a fable from Danish director, one of the best direcotr at moment, he put all different topics in this movie: true love, death, drama, erotism and Calvinist church. The enviroment is very particular and special, tipic of the Dogma and his rules. Excellent cast with E. Watson perfect actress in the part of the Bess and very good soundtrack from Elton John and Deep Purple to Back.

The movie that introduced Emily Watson to the WORLD! Thank you. This gives us a real feeling about religion and its stronghold on many in the U.K. There is an almost documentary touch to this story. Very strong performances and I am glad to say Oscar Recognition.
