I did not read the books but this movie was a GREAT BIG FAT DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Aaliyah had top billing in the movie trailers and advertisements but she actually plays a very small role... maybe 5 scenes at the end. I would have been way better off waiting for this movie to come out on video... huge, huge disappointment. Although I've got to give some credit, the movie sets were nice... although Moulin Rouge it is not... don't waste your time and money unless you have a small mind that is easy to amuse.
