If your fan of the game series, then you can't miss this movie. But I have to admit that the movie is too short and that the storyline is far less elaborated than in the games. They just bypassed many details that made the game's scenario so incredible. Good sound effects and good acting though.

This is a amasing movie the special effect, suspense and horror are well made and make you feel scary during all the movie it's a must see and it really is a reproduction of the game really well done, not like final fantasy.

Not worth the money this movie is a rip off of Night of the living dead, N. O. T. L. D was then remade as Dawn of the dead some of the lines in R. E are the same as the Dawn of the dead. Rent the video Dawn of the Dead and you will see Resident Evil.

R E V I E W by a V I D E O G A M E F A N!!! Let's start with some of the bad reviews. All the bad review I read on this site are so lame. Din't like the ending, story is boring. YOU KNOW WHAT? Some of you you gave this movie a bad rating should go rent the video games of the resident evil serie, play them, try to finish them, and after that give a review to the movie! FOR ALL THE FAN---GO SEE THAT MOVIE NOW... The story is true to the games. While I was waching the movie a though a was missing my playstation controller in my hands. Some camera angles in the movie are inspired by re2. Zombies looks great. This movie had only 40$millions in budget. I mean that hey moulin rouge had 80$ millions on budget, and look how it suck. If you are a fan, and I know there are some out there. You will want to see it more then once. By the way ending is AMAZING. When a got back home from the movie I started to play resident evil back... that I good the movie is. I don't give it a perfect ten for one reason. I'd hope for a 17 mature rating with more guts. But who cares, zombies + lickers + more zombies = lots of shooting and dying. Still here... go see the movie now... Can't wait for the DVD version to come out. Remember embrela is waching you...

The movie was exceptional! Even though you would know a crazy scene is about to happen, you still tend to go nuts! The camera angles, the acting, the special effets, plot and story line was pretty good. What I enjoyed is that they went straight to the point. Movies that end in cliffhangers always bring their viewers back for more! I cant wait for the next movie. Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez knew exactly what to do, you can't find better acting than this. It's unlike the other disapointing movies based on games. I guarantee it.

A long time ago, when nerds where playing on the Playstation (what? No dvd-rom?) , a 13 year freak was playing Resident Evil 2. Two months after, he heard of the Resident Evil movie, and also heard that one of his favorite director (George A. Romero) would work on it. He was all happy, dancing with kitten and all. Then, Romero was kicked off the project, and it was delayed. Delayed for so long, in fact, that he forgot about it. But when he saw the preview three months ago, he started to be excited (re-finishing all the Resident Evil games etc...) Does the movie lives up to this excitement? The freak is here to tell you. First of all, if you played the game and follow the stories, you will found that this movie transcript perfectly the feeling of when you're playing. Everything is here: zombies knocking on window, the sense of survival, the music, the guns, the lock. The only things missing is the stupid puzzles and the very bad controls. If you never played Resident Evil or any of the survival-horror genre, you must be mentally prepared for something that will appear to you as a no-brainer. First of all, it's a high-budget b-movie action-zombie flick. When you will conceived this idea, you must remember this easy equation: dawn of the dead + the matrix + alien = Resident Evil. Now for the good sides and bad sides... First, the incredibly awesome music. The instrumental tracks are composed by the angelic Marilyn Manson and Clint Mantell (the man responsible for the music of Pi and Requiem for a Dream) They work very well for the atmospheric mood, while pop-trash-hard-core-metal rock the action scenes. Then, we get to see the incredibly beautiful Milla Jovovich (she's not a woman, she's a goddess!!) in a clad dress and cutie Michelle Rodriguez in a tight army suit. The story isn't bad, even if we're not there for this, and the ending is awesome for a mainstream picture. The game respect in every way the story and open for a sequel, which is substancially cool. Finally, three words: guns, zombies and kung-fu. Now, bad point. For those who never played the game, they risk to litteraly hate the movie. I don't know why, but it's like this. I'm sure there is exception, and I hope that's only my idea of the phenomena. There's not enough gore (damn damn censors) and twenty more minutes of action wouldn't have been too much to ask. Resident Evil was for me an incredible no-braining cinematic experience. Go in one of those head-bursting cinema, don't forget a trip to the bathroom before (there's no action-less scenes) , sit down confortably and prepare for a lauch of stimulus on your brain.

Ok, If you a geek videogames type, it's a movie for you, but if your not... It's just some 'déjà vu' kind of movie, they took all the zombies movie made in the 70's and 80's and they put some special effects. I don't usaually give bad rates to movies, but this one is just a lost of time and money. Excellent for kids and no life teens who spend most of their time in front of their videogame.

I'm a big fan of Resident Evil! Not only because Milla Jovovich & Michelle Rodriguez are playing, but also because I played ALL (I think) Resident Evil video-game series. It's about this deadly virus being released in an underground research lab of the Umbrella Corperation. There are two kinds of viruses, the g-virus and the t-virus. They explain what they do in the movie while you watch it. Now they have to stop the virus in less than 3 hours before it "affects and mutates the whole human race". You'll see those huge monsters & zombie dogs. Those creatures are so good that they don't show them all in the trailer. I aint gonna tell ya the whole movie, don't wonna ruin it, juss watch it & check it out. You May not like it though. I like it cuz I'm a big fan of it...

This movie is an instant hit to fans and to newcomers alike. Taken from the game's theme of "survival horror, " the plot is similar to the games but totally original. Fans May think they May be disappointed that the plot deviates from the game itself, not to mention with a completely new roster of characters and all, but if the movie was exactly the same as the games, then it would have been very predictable and wouldn't be able to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The cool thing about the story is that, just like the game, there is a mid-western american city called Racoon City in the movie, and there is also an underground laboratory, called the "hive" ran by Umbrella Co. Which also disastrously go wrong infecting umbrella workers to turn into flesh eating zombies, so if you really think about it, it stays pretty faithful to the hit classic honed by capcom, not to mention that shinji mikami (mastermind of the games' series) supervised the making of the movie himself. Whether you were a fan of resident evil from the beginning, or a newcomer to the series (and now a blockbuster hit) , you will see that the movie is well crafted, and will keep you in suspense 'til the end. The only drawback was that, because the movie was really well made, it seemed kinda short... but who am I to complain? After all, this movie only deserves a 10 out of 10.
