Some of the shots in this movie are absolutely breathtaking, they make me want to live in New Zealand the rest of my life. The action was definitely ratcheted up from the first movie, I found it much more compelling to watch. They made some changes from the book which I'm not totally agreeing with, but an excellent film overall.

I wasn't very interested in the first one, but this one blew me away. It was really great and exciting, I don't even like this type of movie. Can't wait for the next one.

Amazing, amazing, amazing, the best movie ever, same for the fellowship of the ring and I am quite sure the third will also be incredible. For those who are not fans of LOTR, Gollum is a must see. Go watch it now!

An ageless epic tale of the evils of total power and the forces of nobility that each one of us possess, though rarely called upon. It is one of those rare movies that has the depth of writing, acting and scenery that is breathtaking. It compels you to enter the world of Middle Earth and search your soul for your response to the quest of the ring and all its perils if you were there. See it at least twice in the theatre, then buy the DVD with the extra footage. It will explain much.

I thought this movie was extremely well done. A must see for adventure/fantasy fans! If you read the book, it's as close as you can expect. It makes you wish you could see the next movie immediately after!

The movie is technically phenomenal. Gollum alone is a breathtaking acheivement justifying humanoid CGI in film. I can see Lucas drooling, with consideration of remaking Star Wars 4-6 entirely in CGI. Typical of most movies driven from popular literature, it is loose in interpretation, but for the most part gathers the general story. For some reason I found the first in the series more exciting, but then I have only seen the second once. Visually alone, there is much to take in, so a second viewing is worth while. As for it being too long... I look forward to when all the films have been released, so I can watch the entire series, Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, together. Granted, it may involve a sick day. If anything, Jackson gives you value for your movie going dollar.

[...] Cause this film is a masterpiece. It is the most beautiful film I saw in my poor little life. I almost cried when I saw all of those absurditys some people say about it."Peter Jackson ruined that film" at least he had the courage to ruinate a bunch of good actors (Elijah Wood, Liv Tyler, Ian McKellen, Orlando Bloom, John Rhys-Davies and Viggo Mortensen.) In one film. The sound and visual effect are fantastic and the armors and the weapons are sublime. !! SO YOU BETTER GET OUT THERE AND ENJOY IT! [...]

Not like the first one which set up the characters and the story. The second in the trilogy equals and surpasses the first in action and intensity. I very much enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

What else can I say: "One movie to rule them all; and in the theatre bind them." Very well done. Bravo! This movie is very different in tone than the first but it's as great a film as the first.

This movie was just amazing. The cinematography was sweepingly beautiful and all the actors become their characters. The story is epic and does the book proud. Fantastic, absolutely fantastic. Character interactions are excellent and the dark plot is tempered by the lighthearted braveness of the characters. I could watch this again just for Aragorn and Legolas.

I thought this was an amazing movie. I really had to go to the bathroom during it because it was so long but I didn't want to go and miss anything! There was ALOT of battle at the end that got kinda boring but the rest of the movie was really good. I felt as if I was in it. When something scary would happen I would sit way back in my seat and would have a death grip on my arm rests. I thought It was a GREAT movie!!! You should definalty see it!!!

Absoultely stunning movie. The first movie was great, but this one was even better. The only downside to it that people find seems to be the length, but since it's based on a book and they had to include as many details as possible, it HAD to be that length. I loved every aspect of this film, and I definiteLY reccomend it to everyone.

This was a great movie, it did trail off of the book a bit, but lets say I didn't read the book, I loved it. It's not supposed to be the book exactly. I didn't like the love story between Irwin and Boromire. Yet it saves them from doing it in the next movie, in correspondance to the book. I would have cut out the love part all together.

This was a very good movie, except for the fact it was too long by about an hour. It had great sound, great acting, great action sequences, but my butt was sore and I needed to go to the washroom. I will say though, it was good enough that I just held it in so I wouldn't miss a minute of this movie.

This film was one of the greatest disappointments I've ever seen. It's understandable and unavoidable that a film will not completely resemble the book, but this film made me wonder whether the director had ever read the book at all!! All in all a big waste of time. For a much better Tolkien experience, I'd spend the ticket money on the book instead.

This movie... is the BEST. THE BEST. What else can I say? There's nothing else to add. Everything about it rocks, and nothing can change that. The battle scenes, touching moments, characters, cast, crew, director, sounds, music... all of it cannot be beaten! Face it, peoples- this movie IS A MASTERPIECE. Those who do not see that now, shall eventually open their eyes. I mean, really! This movie rocks!

I don't know wth you people are talking about. Jackson butchered the plot of the book. How long ago did you people read it? Like really. He undermined Faramir's character and the reasoning behind the Ents joining the war. Faramir NEVER dragged Frodo to the human city. And Jackson didn't explain why Sam was so mean to Gollum, which just makes him look like a prick. It's a good movie, but it slices up the book.

Here are the facts: 1) Compared to the other movies out there right now, it's above average. 2) It could have been much better (to my disappointment) 3) Gollum was incredibly done. 4) The effects were amazing. 5) The adaptation from the book wasn't nearly as good as the first movie (Fellowship) 6) Because this movie is historic, I will see it again!

I found this movie to be just as equally enjoyable as the first, yes it may be a bit lenghty but its worth the sore ass, the acting was completly up to par and the plot and dialoge followed the book surprizingly well for a movie-from-book film.
