Did not know what to expect about this movie. Thought I'd be disappointed. A movie about dragons? Freaked me out. Loved it. A great balance of suspense and special effects. Loved the cast. I watch it again regularly.

Oh my god... dragons? What dragons? The dragons probably appear 5 times in this movie... And the worst part was that it was dark all the time, in which this movie should have stayed in the 1st place. I would have rather watch Puffy the dragon than this garbage.

The best dragon movie ever made. There's non stop action during the whole entire movie. I absolutely loved it. It's a must see for anyone who loves a fantasy kind of movie with dragons.

Not bad movie. Very, very dark. Lots of scenes where you can't see what's happening. Christian Bale was excellent as was Matthew McConaughey. Plot was okay but there could have been more. Graphic were superb. Dragons were totally believable.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Too bad, they've ruined a decent concept with a boring unrealistic movie. This movie left me with so many unanswered questions, couple of things in particular: If this hotshot American was able to figure out how to kill the dragons and save mankind, what does that say for the rest of the world's military intelligence, that couldn't figure it out? Another thing, this male dragon was living underground for thousands (?) of years and eventually he was killed and the movie was over - everyone happy, blah blah blah - did we forget that there were millions of female dragons still hunting and killing throughout the world? Dumb movie, terrible script / story, bad acting. And to top things off - it was set in depressing England "where the sun don't shine". That's where this movie can go.

I was so eager to see this film when I saw the trailer. It seemed like such an odd premise--one that I actually hadn't seen before in ten other films. For whatever reason, I never got out to see it in the theatre when it was out, and am I happy I didn't. It takes a certain kind of skill to make a military vs dragons, humanity on the edge kind of film as boring as this. Not a single compelling relationship in it, and you'd think that in a film about dragons would actually show some dragons up close and interesting. When you make a monster movie, you want the film to dwell a bit on the monster--like in alien, jurassic park, or even godzilla (which was terrible for other reasons) sure--you could argue, "but this was really a film about people in crisis showing what it really means to be human! " but then, why make it a dragon movie? Most of the time we see the things far away on the horizon--not very scary or compelling. We don't find anything about them, not even an explanation of how that dragon was sitting in that cavern for thousands (millions?) of years. And we certainly don't get any sort of just visual play with the creatures--to show how cool they are or how they interact with each other, or how they eat, or anything. It's as if bowman wasn't actually curious about the dragons himself. And the whole queen bee thing has been done to death. How do you destroy an impossibly huge self-replicating horde that is overrunning everything? Oh, luckily there is a secret off switch that you can flip if only you can get to it... aside from the boring dragons, we have the boring humans. The noble suffering father figure. The cigar chomping hothead. The blonde. The teen boy cypher for all the teen boys in the audience to identify with. I guess bowman thought that since we'd seen them in so many other films already he didn't need to flesh them out. And I still don't buy the it's-an-action-movie defense. We've seen these characters in films like the matrix and terminator who actually seemed believable despite their overblown circumstances. Why are characters so important in an action film? No character, no suspense. If you don't care about the people, you don't care if they die, no matter how entertaining they are when they do it. It has a lot of the trouble that the x-files move had. While I liked it, bowman gave it a distant, reserved quality which didn't serve an action drama very well. Another x-files parallel: the overwritten diary voiceover at the beginning. It could have been written by chris carter himself. Compare it to the two towers: peter jackson knows that the audience is coming out for the creatures and the spurting blood, which he delivers in spades, but also the characters and relationships which make you not want bad things to happen to the nice people you are watching.

I saw Reign of fire in the theatre and I think that it is a good show! Since I love dragons this movie was exciting-lots of action-tanks-people getting eaten-buildings on fire-go see this one-or rent it on dvd or vhs! Reign of fire is alot more exciting then Spirt Stallion of the cimarron-of course anyhing is! I must have at least 10 dragon statues! They rock!

I'm a total sucker for action pack films, and I'm going to say this is action packed! I went to see this movie with my dad and I still think I liked it better than him. Bale was the best (and everyone else) I like the whole end of the world (almost) theme with humans batteling it out against Enchanted animals. But in this film dragons were far from it! Go and see it!

Reign of fire was an awesome movie. If you watch any other film with dragons thisone supasses them. For all you critics out there giving this movie bad reviews should review themselves. Can you make dragons look that good could you turn Matthew McAunhey into a guy that ripped I don't think so Reign of fire was a great movie I hope you make a sequel.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. The acting was terrible, the script was garbage and the story line was like something a class of grade 5's could make up. The dragons arn't even that good. Do not see this movie! Avoid it at all costs. They would have to pay me to see that again.

Great special effects, but this really is an updated John Wayne WW2 movie - the big bad American saves those few surviving bastods in Europe from certain death but shows his human side at the very end. Good story if you don't concentrate on things like "where'd they get the fuel? ".

I thought the movie was pretty well done. But if they awoke only the male, where did the females come from? I thought of that only a day after I saw the movie. I really liked the movie though. I want to see it again, but it's not in any of my local theatres anymore. *sniffle* I was disapointed with the ending though... made it seem like dragons are evil. *sniff sniff tear*.

If you suspend your disbelief right at the door, and you pretty much have to for this one, you'll enjoy this movie. Nothing about the movie makes much sense, even though we're in a fantasy land of dragons fighting humans there's still things that make you scratch your head and go "How could that happen... even in this movie? " Probably better as a DVD rental.

What can I say? The movie falls down flat. The cast's inconceiveably unrealistic, the story line is boardering a documentary presentation and the suspence is non-existant. Frontiers of construction provides more thrill.

Hi. I was a little hesitant at first to see this movie because I am a Christian and seeing this movie would be supporting dragons, but... this movie was excellent. Matthew Maconnahay just boosted his career up another knotch. It was thrilling, entertaining for a fantasy, and down right cool. See the movie, it's not a waste of money.

Ouff! I'm still trying to recover from this movie. First : a very bad script although the base idea behind it was interesting. Second : very bad acting (McConaughey and Bale are good actors but here they don't have much to work on) Third : The editing is bad. You don't see as much of the dragons as you'd expect of a movie about them which makes me ask did they run out of money for the special effects? As they say in Baseball three strikes and you're out!

I'm surprised there are so many negative reviews. Sure, it's not the most intelligent, thought-provoking film out there, but that's not the point. It was an original story, had great special effects, and good acting. Bale was especially impressive, but McConaughey seemed a little too over-the-top for me. The ending was a bit weak so for that, I give it a 7 instead of an 8.

Reign Of Fire was a alright movie. I found it kinda boring in the beginning, but it got abit better as the movie progressed. The idea and storyline wasn't too bad. It was just rather slow and what was supposed to be the "action" in the movie wasn't exactly cutting it. I didn't find myself very excited about most of the events. Still it wasn't as bad as many others.

Its hard to decide if you should see this movie or not. The casting was great. The effects were great. The plot was great. The first hour and a half was awesome. The ending was weak. Honestly, if you were to go see this movie... your better off leavin' after an hour and a half. The ending was short and lacked suspense. The final line "Here's to Evolution" completely ruined the movie for me. This movie seems like they ran out of money and had to finish it up with a budget of 500 dollars. Try renting it.

This movie was far too grey for my liking. The idea is interesting, but needs more than a narration of the destruction of mankind. Some dragons in broad daylight with a greater variety in colour (such as red, gold, or green) would have helped.

This was an enjoyable movie, but for sure don't think too much about this. This is not Oscar material. Anybody expecting out of this movie, or of "The Fast and the Furious", sublime drama and compelling characters should perhaps look at the preview first... this film is just FUN to look at. This is decent mindless sci-fi, it's not about dragon slaying or fantasy. Great effects for sure, and a subtle sense of humour (especially when, in some scenes, the tension mounts to a climax at which point the human ends up dying horribly) Don't think too much about the plot though. For instance, they never really explain how dragons can apparently defeat supersonic jets with high-yield heat-sensing missiles, thus explaining how humans got beaten in the first place. PS: yes, there are thousands of dragons on the Earth, but the reason you don't see them all is because, well, the Earth is kind of big, like 2.03 billion square kilometers, like bigger than the average backyard...

This is not a bad movie at all. I don't see why some people gave it lower than a 3 rating -- I mean, it's a real B-movie, so what are they expecting? Judged based on what it is, the movie is reasonably entertaining, has good acting, and amazing special effects. Loved how they kept it dark and menacing. 7/10.
