I'm going to take this opportunity to set some records straight. First off, I am a Canadian, and I thought this was an amazing movie. There are a lot of other Canadians out there who are accusing this movie as "The Americans glorifying themselves again." They say that the Americans are so proud of themselves that they made a movie about winning the gold in Men's hockey in 1980. Remember, they didn't just win the gold, they beat out the Soviet team. Who at that time was the best friggin' hockey team in the world. They had won the gold five times in a row before that. The game featured in this movie was the first game where the Soviets acutally pulled they're goalie out. So this wasn't just any victory. Secondly, someone commented on how movies that are based on true stories sometimes give false facts. Hence the words BASED ON. There's a big difference between being BASED ON a true story and BEING a true story. BASED ON doesn't necessarily mean they're going to tell the story exactly as it happened. And thirdly, we Canadians always go on and on about how the Americans are such big shots. Sure, they're high on themselves, they glorify themselves, but it's not like we don't. You will hear every American say that America is the greatest country on earth, but you'll also hear every Canadian say that Canada is the greatest country on earth. So, we're just as high on ourselves as the Americans. Nevertheless, this was a great movie and the story would have been worth telling no matter what country it was.
