Very good movie. A little gross, but very well done. It definitely redeemed themselves after Hannibal.

I was extremely skeptical when I first heard about this movie, yes Hannibal Lecter (sir Anthony Hopkins) is in it he is still the sinister black heart of the series. This time, he's called upon to help the FBI track down the equally evil and mysterious "Tooth Fairy" (Ralph Fiennes) killer, who is killing entire families and leaving bizarre clues behind. Ed Norton is agent Will Graham (who incidentally put Lecter away after being stabbed nearly to death by the good doctor) Graham has been retired ever since, with his wife and child in Florida. His ex-boss coaxes Graham out of retirement in order to try and stop the TF before he kills again. Graham eventually seeks Lecter's genius and intimate knowledge together, they slowly put the pieces in place. I thought Norton and Hopkins are excellent in their roles, Feinnes is great as a truly menacing psychopath. He plays his twisted yet pathetic character with ease he pulls off the near impossible task of being a serial murderer. Emily Watson plays a blind woman who unknowingly finds herself in love with the TF, a must have DVD.

People who don't think it was a good movie didn't think about it enough; there are quotes in it, from William Blake for example, which feed into the themes and provide a window into Lecter's character. It is a thinking movie and when you can weave everything together thematically and then consider how it relates to the other 2 movies, you have pure genius.

There is no doubt that The Silence Of The Lambs was better, but Red Dragon is quite a good thriller. Personnally, I don't think that Edward Norton is a good actor, and he didn't convince me otherwise in this movie. I think he's too young to play a retired police investigator. And when he goes to see Lecter in his prison cell, he does not at all match Jodie Foster. Norton seemed bored and out of place when he was face-to-face with Lecter. Anyway, enough with Norton. At least Hopkins and Fiennes were good. The movie is well directed and the suspense stays strong throughout the movie (Edward Norton kind of slows down the flow, but the other actors speed it up again) To conclude, the movie is good, exept for Norton and some questionnable scenes where sometimes, we don't really understand what the hell Fiennes is trying to say or think.

Boring movie. Silence of the lambs was definitely more interesating. This is just a cheap copy version with little to support it. A waste of good acting talent.

This movie was the best one I have seen in a long time, better than Hanibal but not nearly as scary as Silence of the lambs. I loved the ending it was a surprise you have no idea which guy gets shot.

Certainly not up to par with Silence of the lambs... not scary in the least... a typical hollywood attempt... whats to come next is very obvious as it carefully runs through scenes.

Marvellous movie but I could not understand who was killed before or during the fire? It can not be Mr D because he came to kill Graham's family?

Decent... But the ending is really stupid... The detective who is portrayed as someone really smart puts his family in danger before really finding out the red dragon is dead (basically he beleieved the blind girl, and before getting the official results from the autopsy, moved his family back in danger) woooowwww what a genius... Please I think we deserve better than that.

Intriguing, with a heavy improvement over its terrible predecessor Hannibal. Still no camparison to The Silence of the Lambs but at least this film gives Hopkins the range he deserves. Ralph Fiennes is frighteningly convincing.

I love prequels... at least this one... I don't care what anyone has to say... you put Eward Norton and Anthony Hopkins in a film together... forget it I don't care how bad the script is it'll still be a movie worth seeing... Storywise, it has the other two beat... yes, even the original Silence of the Lambs... Peace.

Great movie for fans of the Silence of the Lambs trilogy. What a cast. All of the actors gave the movie their own special flavour. Nobody could pull off Hannibal Lecter like Hopkins, man that guy can act! The plot was suspenseful with the usual grotesque twists thrown in. One criticism, on what planet would Ralph Fiennes be considered ugly? Otherwise a great movie!

I have read the trilogy of Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, and Hannibal so I know about the content very well and I am in love with Hannibal Lecter. (If you really liked the movies, then you have to read the books for they're awesome and the ending in Hannibal is way different than the movie version, Clarice and Lecter flee together and they share a very passionate relationship but it is hard to say you have to read and understand for yourself, anyway.) As well as their relationship, the reasons of the criminal Francis Dollarhyde's twisted mind is slightly given in the movie. What I really recommend is to read the books and then watch the movies but if you r not so into it then again you have to see the movie. They are really great but knowing that there's more to it in the books...

This one is better than Hannibal, but Silence of the lambs was certainly the best for me. A real good thriller, a lot of fear, your imagination goes on. It's a wonderful movie, the beginning to the end. Hopkins and Norton are credible, they are very good actors. That's a real treat, go to see it!

This was definitely worthy of the Hannibal trilogy. It was an awesome movie. Hopkins and Norton make a knockout combo. The only complaint I have is that there wasn't nearly enough Hopkins for my taste. I know Lecter wasn't supposed to be a big part of this movie, but I found myself wanting to see more of him... He adds a certain delicious intensity. A must-see.

Obviously if you saw Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal you would go see this movie regardless of the critics. It was my case but I end up appreciating the movie for its value alone. It was simply a good movie. Suspenceful, disturbing per moment and the extremely well acted. My only hurdle... the trilogy is now over. My final world? RUN TO THEATER AND PAY FOR THAT MOVIE RIGHT NOW... cause sneaking in is illegal.

Pretty good rendering of the novel. If you enjoyed the book you'll probably enjoy the movie. If you saw Manhunter this movie is probably better. It really highlights the grotesque nature of the crimes and (like the book) the psychology behind the criminal. Characters and story are quite believable and realistic. I particularly liked the actions of characters in the ending - not your typical hollywood shmollywood stuff. Not brilliant, but pretty entertaining.
