[...] It solicits your emotions without screaming for it. Cate speaks with her eyes and makes you sympathize with her character. Brilliant.

My favourite film at present. Did anyone else notice the overtly obvious relevances to the Bible, Jesus and God the father? Filippo pays the price of Philippa's sins. Seriously everything means something. Oh and I love Italia.

I simply can't wait for the other two parts of the trilogy! This movies has touched me as no other has for a very long time. Of course a movie that good will not be appreciated by everyone, which is another positive aspect of it. The end is superb and remind me of Elektra. But the best thing about it is the way it is absolutly unpredictable.

This is an amazing movie with great performances from both leads. It starts as an almost action/drama but then unexpectedly turns into an intense love story. This is the most romantic film I have ever seen. Usaully romantic is a bit of an insult but not when the film is made as well as this. The director and actors obviously understand the power of a beautiful silence and there are many moments in this film when everything is said without anyone opening their mouth. There is great Italian scenary here and the piano music that accompanies sets the mood perfectly. The best film of 2002, without a contnder in sight. Go see it now.

"Heaven" is a great movie, if you're in the mood for something that it is more a fable than an action movie. If you're looking for eyecandy, romance, or anything of that sort, this is not the right movie.

Good use of camera angles and composition. A well edited film. I found the story to be a little weak. It could have used more momentum to help carry the drive if the characters.

The movie was beautiful if not believable, making it definitely worth $8.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] This movie is worth seeing mainly for the performance of Cate Blanchett, who is great in this, even though she doesn't get to display the emotional range she did so brilliantly in "Elizabeth", for which she totally deserved to win the Academy Award, but lost to [...] Gwyneth Paltrow who can't act worth a darn in my humble opinion, well she must have some pretty good connections in Hollywood [...] wouldn't surprise me though I have no hard proof. But I digress... Oh yeah about "Heaven" it was okay, not great, the story was slow at times but overall reasonably entertaining. Giovanni Ribisi doesn't quite make it as a leading man although he was good in Boiler Room, I think he's just miscast here; thankfully they don't give him much to say. I didn't like the ending, I found it unrealistic that they would commit suicide.

"Heaven" is a classically bad movie. Though it starts out interestingly enough as we watch the blanchette character deliver her homemade bomb to a downtown Turin skyscraper (with unintended consequences) , it doesn't take long for it to bog down in a most contrived, sappy, slow moving, pretentious, and totally unbelievable plot. Actually, this movie is so bad that it is now my benchmark for awful movies -- so bad, in fact, that in a perverse way it is almost enjoyable. Know, what am I saying? It is just awful.

Honestly, I was quite disappointed with Heaven since being a big Tom Tykwer fan and after seing the trailer I expected something similar to "Princess and the Warrior". Eventhough both movies play with the same theme, Heaven is nowhere near the intensity, emotions and drama of "Princess and the Warrior". I guess that the obvious difference between the two is that Tom Tykwer didn't write the script for Heaven and hence this movie isn't what it could have been had he written it as well. Nontheless, Tom Tykwer masterful cinematography is flawless as always and is the only reason you should go see this movie. So I recommend this one to everyone that hasn't seen "Princess and the Warrior" and once you see it and if you liked it go rent "Princess and the Warrior" I guarantee you'll be blown away!!!

This movie turned out to be much less than I expected... besides the good acting (only that of Cate Blanchett's) , and very few scenes with good cinematography, there's nothing at all exceptional or worth paying for in this movie... the story isn't new, the directing is less than average, and the pace is very very slow... in short, not worth the trouble of going to the theatres to watch it... even if it were free..

Not to be missed. It's good to know that it is a début of another Kieslowski's triology... cant wait for the next episode! I enjoyed mostly the time space, the imagination, the perspective and feelings that this move created and developed.

As in the case of AI, it's not what it could've been. For the uninitiated, this film was initially written and to be made by polish filmmaker Krzysztof Kieslowski. He passed away in 1996, and filmmaker Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run) decided to direct Kieslowski's script. Kieslowski's style is extremely subtle as is this script. Tykwer's grandoise cinematography and minimalist music ultimately makes the finished film a little hard to swallow. The film certainly has its moments and I'd certainly recommend it - but in the end, Heaven is a beautiful script turned into a pretentious and arty film.

This film is such a gem. Cate Blanchett and Giovanni Ribisi are flawless. Every single scene is breathtaking. Tom Tykwer is one of the best directors out there. After "Run Lola, Run" and "The Princess and the Warrior", I've been hooked on his work. He has a way of making everything on screen look beautiful and pure. He is a man with great talent and an amazing vision. This movie also has some wonderful music. I wouldn't miss it if I were you!

Of almost 200 films I've seen in 2002, I would say that this is definitely the best film I've seen all year (and I've already seen it twice) Incredible directing, amazing performances, divine storytelling, breathtaking cinematography, and a beautiful score... this film is quite simply a masterpiece.

Not your Hollywood stereotype paint by numbers film. But if you are ready for something with a bit more meat to it, and are open to a different sort of filmic rythem, then go, No RUN and see Cate Blanchet and the rest of the cast in this excellent film.

Cate Blanchett is brilliant! The best actress around right now. Giovanni Ribisi's broody love sick performance wonderful. Loved the style and photography. All supporting performances first rate. An interesting end to the tragedy plot.

Although this films plays out closer to "Princess and the Warrior" than "Run Lola Run', it is still a very good film that should not be missed. The performances are strong, especially Giovanni Ribisi whose very subtle performance nearly steals every scene his in.
