A genuinely entertaining piece with compelling performances by Leonardo DiCaprio and Christopher Walken. This film has a 1960's 'Camelot' mood to it where anything and everything seemed possible and thus fits this kind of story very well. The movie is quite fantastic if only for the outrageous situations that the DiCaprio character finds himself in while posing as a pilot, doctor and attorney. It's quite amazing to watch all the events unfold in Frank Abagnale's young life. By the end of the film the viewer learns just how intelligent and capable Abagnale really was in life. Director Steven Spielberg takes a kind and sentimental view of the young Abagnale at the expense of the FBI agent (played by Tom Hanks) assigned to catch him. The brashness of Abagnale's life story probably had great appeal to Spielberg as he to began his startling film career by bluffing his way onto the movie studio lot. The Hanks performance is in my opinion only okay, and probably should have been cast with another actor because of how the character is portrayed. A less familiar actor would have made the character more believable and not simply another 'Tom Hanks performance'. Overall a really good film for the holidays that should be on your must see list.
