An amazing masterpiece. This movie blew me away when I first saw it and I enjoy it more every time I watch it. It has become a permanent fixture in my top five movies of all time. Oscar-caliber acting by Christian Bale and Sean Bean, along with a very original story and spectacular action, make for a near perfect movie.

Wow a great movie and fantastic action sequences! While it may not live up to its tag line: "Forget the Matrix here is Equilibrium!" while it may not be quite as good as The Matrix it has an interesting nature to it and Christian Bale is brilliant as Cleric John Preston. I think is film is highly underrated by film critics and doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Great movie, with a somewhat interesting plot, but quite deep message. I found it quite similar to George Orwell's 1984, where conformity and government control has reached a level without precedents. There were some flaws, such as the ease with which Preston killed the leader in the end, whereas he had been previously inaccessible by anyone. Overall, quite deep and moving film!

Superbly filmed hand to hand/weapon combat scenes. My only complaint was not having more slow-motions of the lightning fighting! I guess I'll have to get the DVD :D. The adversary of Bale - the 'guy' TAYE DIGGS(awesome character acting by him-again! )laughing was odd-especially in the presence of the head guys. It was no rip-off of other movies. I prefer these realistic fight scenes to the corny over rehearsed Matrix fights. I found there was alot of attachment to characters despite lack of emotion-like watching a French suspense movie. Get it on DVD for sure if u haven't seen it yet- rating of 9.0 average here must be a hit!!!

This movie is definitely worth seeing for the action scenes alone. Unfortunately, when you're dealing with characters that aren't allowed to feel emotion, it's hard to become attached to them and actually care about the movie's plot. Also, the plot didn't seem very coherent. There were alot of holes and areas where you had to suspend your disbelief in order for the movie to even make sense. The gunkata was awesome. And no, this movie was not a Matrix ripoff and was nothing like Minority Report. Anyone that thinks that has obviously seen none of the aforementioned movies.

How can everybody say that this movie was a copy of the Matrix? How? Except for the clothes, their was nothing remotely resembling the matrix. I don't know about you all, but I sure didn't see any slow motion fighting. This was a great movie. The acting was good, the plot was so-so, but it still worked very well. I loved the action too, it was very original and well played out. The one complaint I have is WHAT THE HECK WERE THEY THINKING WHEN THEY HAD ChristIAN BALE CUT THE BAD GUYS FACE IN HALF? That was really dumb. But the rest of the movie covers for that, so it's all good.

This movie was tremendous and did not deserve to be over shadowed. The action scenes were definietly original and thrilling like I've never seen before. THe plot is not air-tight but is still worhtwhile and plays along smoothly and well. A must see.

The US Media critiqued this film to death by calling it a rippoff of Minority report and the Matrix... THIS film actually kept me interested and in my seat. It is another film that some people would rather you don't get to see. Go see it!

Some nice action scenes but SO many plot holes that it takes away from the movie a lot. Like the black guy laughs in the movie... thought there was no emotion!?!? Many more like it. But I give it 7 for the action.

TOTAL surprise because this movie nearly vanished into obscurity (I'm not sure why the studio opted not to promote it at all) and it gots some bad reviews from critics but it's awesome! Sure, I'm remotely aware that the plot isn't the most original and there are some holes but the whole thing is so slick and gorgeous, call it a guilty pleasure. The futuristic outfits are hot, the action is amazing, and Christian Bale is ridiculously sexy as a Neo-type hero. If you're an action junkie, you CANNOT pass on this!

Disappointing. Great action scenes, poor plot. Credibility holes, especially at the climaxing end: how can a guy enter the sancta sanctorum without being searched for arms? He surrenders his staff (Gandalf managed to keep it), but keeps his hidden weapons!

This movie is a HUGE surprise!! I took a chance and bought it on DVD becuse the reviews on this site are good. And partly because it says FORGET THE MATRIX! on the box. Well, while you can't really forget the-one-and-only MATRIX, this action flick is as good. The plot is not too deep as in the Matrix, but the fight sequenses are amazing, unbelievable, but maybe physically realistic... whereas in the Matrix the laws of physics do not apply. For the action, I place Equilibrium on the same level as the Matrix.

Excellent movie even if it is really just a modernized version of "451 Farenheit" with a revised the ending. The action scenes are out of this world. The hero is portrayed with nearly superhuman and yet somehow believable fighting ability. I enjoyed the fight scenes better than either Matrix movie. I'd be interested to know if the director etal credit "451 Farenheit" for the story idea.

Absolutely loved it!!! Unfortunately the dvd doesn't have a french version on it, but I will buy the vhs copy and enjoy it many times with my boyfriend... we just loved the fight scenes, very intelligent way of using and describing the kata scenes :)

I saw Matrix Reloaded and I don't have to see it again! Equilibrium I watched 4 times already. The story is good and the fight scenes are out of this world. I'm waiting for "Equilibrium Reloaded"!!! :o)

This movie takes 1984, Metropolis, Fahrenheit 451 and Citizen Kane and packs it with Matrix-like action scenes. And it did not turn out bad at all. I must admit I enjoyed watching this movie, altough it doesn't bring in anything new.

This is what the Matrix wants to be when it grows up. This movie is a treasure, as show that while in the utter stupidity of the Hollywood ses pool there can still be great films like this one. It is a shame and a crime to the movie going public that this film is not playing in theaters right now.

The person that gave this film a 1/10 is a joke of a human being. I have seen many many films, more so than this little kid. This was one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. I know it's not perfect, but the story teaches you that nothing is perfect. This film may be far from perfect, but I thought the story, the action, the drama, was all excellent. Christian Bale is a top-notch actor, as well as Sean Bean (too bad he wasn't in the movie more, but his part was extremely well played) In line with The Matrix, but not too much. I, personally, thought that this was an overall better movie than The Matrix (or even The Matrix Reloaded) I would recommend this film to anyone with a brain. Simply amazing!
