It is very rare that you get to see an instant classic. This movie had everything and more. Action, drama, acting (De Niro and Pacino as well as a great supporting cast), directing, etc... One of my all time favourites!!!

The problem I have with heat is that it's kind of boring and dull. Nothing really happens besides the blatant and predictable. Also, when the cops go gunfire against the gangsters in openfire public, they are literally going Rambo right in public. It's like your walking on a sidewalk, and suddenly a few cops (people you count on and trust) literally start shooting AK47's. And when Pacaino shoots a guy who has a 5-year-old girl from a distance, he could have been crucified. He could have shot the girl. And the ending was very predictable, first of all, when Pacino starts chasing De Niro, he doesn't even know who he's chasing. Anyway, I thought it was okay. But it could have been so much better.

If you have not seen this one, you HAVE TO! It is a classic. De Niro does a great job as does pretty much every actor in this flick. Check it tonight!

It was very paceful but has way too many flaws. Like that one part where the bad guys and good guys were gunfiring against each other for almost 7 minutes straight. First of all, the good guys started it and as professional's you can't go open fire like South Africa on the streets with average citizen's with civil rights there. You know what, I even hate Michael Mann. Miami Vice: I don't know how anybody could make a movie so bad, Colaterall: dissapointingly and unexpectedly boring and awkward. Michael Mann just doesn't get it. In this, at times it was corny that I had to almost laugh because how stupid it was. And the ending was obvious with unengaging dramatic and talking sequences with no blank wonder or interest at all. I highly recommend no one to watch this cinematic piece of garbage. It's nothing special.

This is one of my favourite action/dramas. Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore... how could the cast get much better? The actin was great, and the storyline realistic.

I've seen the movie numerous times and I still find a twist that I was not expecting, especially when you look at all the in-between action and sub-plots.

FANTASTIC! I have seen this video for the fourth time and still can't get enough. Michael Mann is definitely a true filmaking genius. This is the best police-drama I have ever seen.

A classic. Some great scenes: Deniro on his balcony, and in the hotel room at the end.

The producer of this movie, Michael Mann weaves a complex character story of a gang of professional crimminals who pull off their thefts with disipline, professionalism and, when required... Ruthlessness. The cop who is tasked with bringing the gang to justice is played by Al Pacino. He mirrors the character traits of his crimminal adversary, Robert De Niro. Both loners, disiplined, dedicated to their chosen professions and, each having failed miserably in their private lives. In one memorable scene when a bank heist goes bad, heavily armed police arrive and surround the gang firing on them on a busy street. One of the gang members played by Val Kilmer, displays the cool, detached professionalism that is the hallmark of this gang, calmly picking his targets and firing back with devestating effects on the police, who are intent on killing him. Kilmer handles his heavy weapons with the same degree of skill as a surgeon handles a scalpel. The characters are deeply flawed and at the same time likeable. Both Pacino and De Niro seem trapped in this contest, destined to play out this game of cat and mouse to the bitter end. It is diffcult not to be aware that all of these crimminals have what it takes to succeed in any profession, courage, self disipline and razor sharp intelligence. One wonders what would have become of them it they had "gone straight" and yet, we cannot see them do anthing else. I suspect that for these men, life simply would not have been challenging enough. Unlike the rest of us, they are fueled by a steady stream of pure adrenalin. Not the sort of thing one routinely in experiences in an accounting office. A movie well worth seeing.
