An intense Woody Allen drama/thriller set in London rather than the usual New York City. The London environment seems to have inspired Mr. Allen as this picture is beautifully shot, wonderfully acted and exceptionally directed. The story covers similar themes to those in an earlier Allen drama - Crimes and Misdemeanors - but never the less Matchpoint is fresh, original, and modern. An exceptional Woody Allen picture, even filmgoers who do not normally take to movies by Mr. Allen could very much enjoy.
