In the little village of Holstenwall, fairground hypnotist Dr. Caligari displays a sleep-walker named Cesare, who has been asleep for 23 years. At night though, Cesare skulks through the town, secretly murdering people on the doctor's orders. Soon, a young student named Francis develops suspicions about Caligari after his friend is found dead...
