The Day the Earth Stood still was way ahead of it's time. A solid story with a message, great special effects, a great cast. Michael Rennie as Klaatu, was superb casting at it's best. This movie filmed through the period of American history when Communism was a huge threat to the United States conveys a message of hope for mankind. The remake, while interesting is not in the same league as the original 1950's classic. If you haven't seen this, please do. It's a winner.
