This was a quirky interesting movie. I liken this to movies like "Imaginary Heros" also starring Sigourney Weaver. It's a simple story, but with many intriguing dynamics between father, son and mother.

Tadpole was a wonderful movie! The setting was great and the story even better. Going into this movie I thought to myself what some may think about the fact that the boy is. Well. A boy, but as the movie progressed it brought back memories of when I was a boy (not that long ago) Being that I had a similar experience, I can say that it can't be compared to what today’s society has painted as "sex with a minor". There is this element that makes very romantic and it's a fantasy of many boys. The definition of “tadpoling” is: Woman whom are involved with men ten years younger than they" (which is why it was ironic that Oscars nick name was Tadpole) One in every five men has been at one point “Tadpoled”. For those who haven't had this experience (men & woman) , I'm sure there was a time, during the movie, when they've thought, "What if I was in his/her shoes". I would give this movie a ten, but one thing is holding me back. In her earliest scenes, Sigourney Weaver (step mom Eve) seems like a lost actor, looking for her character. There were only a few hints that she "was not happy" and that came after Dianne stated it.

I found this movie funny from start to finish. In real life one would probably hate a precocious kid like Oscar, but in this film he is lovable and sweet. John Ritter and Bebe N. Are just excellent in their performances and the quotes in between each scene are wonderful. Quick and witty.

The preview was interesting however the movie really was mad. Tadpole is supposed to be fluent in French and smarter than his actual school mates. I found him a real disappointment. Knowing couple of lines in French which includes how to order a meal for supper and reading Voltaire (in English!!!) does not qualify someone as a genius. The movie was long and a shame to Anglophones who do know French.

Did anyone else see the total lack of legal and psychological responsibility in the sexual exploitation of a 15 year old who is not in love; only in fetish lust with his stepmother's hands and perfumed scarf. Add insult to injury by closing the show with Bowie's anthem to teen angst, sexual exploration and coming of age when no one in the movie has changed or is at all "quite aware of what they're going through." Throw in some grand and petty theft of Sophicles, Salinger, Nichols and Stigwood and you have a movie that is as poor as it is perverted. Reality check: a 15 year old girl is molested by an older family friend with parental knowledge... see you in court, not at the box office. This movie is a 0/10 and Hollywood needs to wake up and take some responsibility of how childhood sexuality and its exploitation is depicted on screen. Letting everyone in the cast get off free and easy, aside from a tennis ball to the head, is the ultimate crime of this damaging and anything-but-funny piece of trash. Now don't get me started on the filming techniques...

This movie is like a breath of fresh air. It proves that you don't need a big budget or a complex plot to make an intelligent and funny movie. The great acting (and great soundtrack!) made this movie. I highly recommend it.

The first few minutes of this film made me want to hurt myself. I admit that it got a little better as it developed, but all in all it was pretentious and annoying.

Pretty lame, really. Tries to be witty and intelligent, but isn't. Thought the plot had some potential, but the film didn't engage me at all. Lead character is self-important and annoying. Apparently, was done with a digital hand-held camera, which is cool, but it gave the file a "cheap" look.

I did not care for the way it was filmed, even if it was new technology, you don't pass off gritty filming as a 'look' or 'mood'. Anyway, the acting was super, S. Weaver and Bebe Neuwirth were fantastic. The story was a touch short, but it is better to do that than to fill the story with unnecessary scenes that do not add to the story. It is definitely worth a rental as the dialogue is smart and funny and the acting is good, but not really a big screen flick.

This movie is too short and therefore is too shallow, the male figures young and old, are stupid characters –God help America and us, if this is and will be the American man! Save your money for a good movie not this one!

This very innovative and delightful tale of teenage angst and lust reminds me alot of a little movie with a bid cast that came out a few years back called The Ice Storm. How coincidental that Sigourney Weaver finds herself in both of them. Weaver proves that she is one of the finest, most versatile actressses around and gives, yet another, stellar performance. Tadpole is a little movie that may or may not go very far in life, and unlikely that it will outgross anything this summer, but is nevertheless a delicious treat.

An enjoyable and entertaining short film with witty lines and style. Shot with a digital handheld camera, it has a unique look that matches the simplicity of the story. The actors are superbly cast and the audience will walk away wishing the movie was longer, but very satisfied, nonetheless. If you can, wait for video.

"Tadpole" is a very funny, intelligent movie. Although there is no nudity or strong language, it is basically a movie for adults, and a very good one at that. I think that you have to be at least in your late 20's to appreciate the humor and plot. Although advertised as a drama, the movie was funny right from the start and didn't let us down through the rest of the picture. The only thing I can critisize is that a good amount of the movie looked like it was shot with a hand held camera and there seemed to be a little bit of shaking at times (unless there was a small earthquake that I was not aware of!) Other than that, I whole heartedly recommend "Tadpole" to those of you looking for a funny/sweet entertaining movie for adults.
