This was an awesome, heartwarming, joyful, and inspiring movie! Best documentary I've seen all year! It's great to see such innocence in these kids and how they interact so effortlessly with each other despite their different cultures and backgrounds.

This movie was so heart warming. I have told more people to see this movie and everyone agrees that it is tremendous. I think the best thing for me was to see their smiles everytime they were dancing, they were having so much fun and were really proud of themselves. I think this should be mandatory in all schools. What better skill could we teach our kids is to dance, how many kids can't even dance at their Grads. You won't be disappointed to see this movie. Enjoy!

I have taught Ballroom dancing for a number of years and thought this was a very moving film on how dancing can inspire at a very early age. Also it was about more than dancing!

If you haven't seen this movie yet, you don't know what you're missing out on... I love watching dance movies and this one surpasses all the more recent dance movies of the past few years, such as "Havana Nights" or "Dance With Me". You can't help but laugh throughout the movie and enjoyed watching how these young kids can emulate the same stages of what every adult goes through when dancing. It's the ultimate feel-good movie, and everyone was smiling and clapping in the end. The movie even brought me to tears as I was just so amazed at how well made this movie was and how she captured the true essence of what kids and dancing is all about. If you love dancing, you can't afford NOT to see this movie. If you're a parent, this movie may convince you to take your kids to dance lessons. Where else can you mix social and coordination skills that will last you a lifetime...

It's amazing to see the transformation of the kids as they undertake ballroom dancing for 8 weeks. Not an easy feat! The teachers are fantastic in the enthusiasm and their inspired teaching. A must see for audiences of all ages! It's time to put on my dancing shoes.

I have to say that this is the most amazing film/documentary that I have seen in a very long time. I cried, laughed and by the middle of the film I was so in love with those children who were so innocent and yet so grown up all at the same time - cute cute cute. The love and kinship that grew between teacher and student was very touching. Without being part of this project, me as a spectator, I grew to care for each child in no time at all. My hat goes off to the writers, producers, directors who obviously captured the essence of this project. This actually changed lives and the outlook of the future of these few children, well this goes beyond written or verbal expressions. It was hard not to get up and dance around in the theatre. Once this is out on DVD it will be part of my library for sure... I can’t say that 10 is enough sooo you must go see this film.

I saw this movie with a very difficult crowd- none of us wanted to watch the same thing, and we had a 30 year age span. Finally we decided that watching 11 year old inner city New Yorkers couldn't be half bad. We were right, it was amazing. Some really insightful comments, and the drama of an impending city-wide competition keep you engrossed and laughing out loud the whole way through. This movie really brings you back to being 11 - being so full of hopes and dreams and insecurities, and more humour than you probably knew you had in you. If you're looking for unique entertainment you'll find it here in "Mad Hot Ballroom.".

I've seen this movie 4 times already. And I'll be seeing it again. It is beyond me to be able to adequately explain in words how much I love this documentary. The writers/producers/directors obviously poured all of their love and dedication in this movie as much as the teachers did in teaching these marvelous kids how to dance. If you've ever wanted to help young people see that they are worth something or just give them something to hold onto, go see this movie. You feel like you've seen a part of these childrens' lives that will change them forever. You'll be smiten with the joy of dancing and you'll cry and laugh and just FEEL so much during the story unfolding you'll want to burst. You NEED to see this movie! No, seriously! :P Really. It deserves a 100 on 10!

The "feel good" movie of the summer. Six thousand six-graders from schools in disparate neighbourhoods of New York City learn about ballroom dancing, about themselves, about competition, and about life. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll definitely want to dance after you see this movie. Highly recommended.

Very enjoyable movie. Interesting to see children from different backgrounds participating in something where the playing field is level. I was also struck by the dedication of some of the teachers - a good teacher is worth their weight in gold!

I gave this movie a 10 because it is something so different from what is out there, just as this educational program is so far from anything I could ever had imagined. Just when you think you cannot reach the children anymore in lieu of so many negative influences like Brittany Spears and 50 [...]Cent; not to mention the drugs and potential molesters the kids mention–but hey give the kids what they want right? WRONG! Guidance is key in schooling and this movie proved that. But also this movie is just so heartwarming, the way the kids related to each other, how they faced defeat, and how they shined in triumph. I want take dance lessons now!
