Mantic comedies can be perfectly watchable in the right hands. Frankie and Johnny was cute, Crossing Delancy a success, Only the Lonely a charming delight. These days we are suffered to witness the failures (this pun will be rampant in this review) of most all of Hollywood's contemporary attempts. Failure to Launch is a mottled piece of garbage that simply wastes audiences' time. I'm sorry for being a bit crass but this was an occasion where I became upset with a film. Genuinely upset. Granted I had some laughs, but ALL at the pathetic nature of this film. That only enjoyment I could take from this movie was laughing AT it. Terry Bradshaw is amusing by simply being present while Kathy Bates and Zoey Deschanel are completely wasted on the screen. Our two leads (Matthew and Sarah) add nothing with their tired, predictable actics and minimal chemistry. This film wants to be delightful and goofy but gets caught in silly film trappings. The sub-plots are clear signs, such as the unfunny mockingbird adventure. Instead of dealing with real emotions and real pain (such as the Rom-Com examples I gave before did in varying degrees) this film b-lines for animal gags (absolutely nauseating), wacky friends and awkward scenarios (this whole film is based on an awkward scenario) The filmmaking decision to include such things stupefies the movie, and gives little to no credit to the audience's intelligence. Jokes could be successful if they just knew when to end them. The gun scene with Rob Cordry (of the Daily Show) worked until too much time passed. Another key to this film's Failure (I told you, it's a perfect pun) is it's lack of comic timing as well as overall execution. This film has no heart (or should for that matter) which means that it relies on the silly jokes. This reliance is better left to frat comedies who are willing to take such material to the extremes where it works (about 30% of the time these days) All in all, this tripe is not worth the time and money put into it along with any likewise effort the audience may get duped into using on it.

Heartwarming though predictable comedy romance. A little slapsticky at times. Entertaining chick-flick.

I didn't expect much from this movie, especially after reading one review that said there was zero chemistry between the 2 leads (and I disagree) I thought it was fun and smart (2 reasons I watch movies!) Worth the trip to anti-dating-land.

I was never a huge fan of Terry Bradshaw but not a bad movie.

I rented this movie, thinking it's gonna be a fun movie to watch, nothing too intelligent, just to realx... WRONG. This is the stupidest/not funny movie ever. Well the first 45 minuts are because I stopped it after that. NOT FUNNY (but attempting to be every two seconds).. really pathetic movie, I don't understand why the comments on this movie are good. The average of the reviews should be like... 3.5.

I walked out when the 3 guys were on their sea-doos. I had suspected it was bad based on the commercials and the speed with which it hit the cheapies, but I'd had no idea it was this horrible. Save your money - stay away from this movie!

Sarah and Matthew do not disappoint. This movie is fun from start to finish.

It was ok -- mainly a chick flick. Most of the funny scenes were on the previews. My wife really enjoyed the movie.

A fun interesting story, acting was alittle lacking. Particularly in the chemistry between SJP and Matthew. The ending also became very cheesy almost a little "date movie"-ish, kind of ruins the movie premis. Otherwise, a few good laughs.

I loved it! It was funny and romantic and somewhat heart warming!

I feel bad giving this movie such a low rating cuz Matthew McConaughey is a babe. However, SJP does not do the movie justice. I didn't care much for her in the first place, and now I just can't stand her. She screams way too much in this movie and is overly flaky. Must admit her roommate is hilarious, though.

I went and saw this with my friend, and both her and I laughed our butts off. This movie, within the first ten minutes, I knew that I was going to buy it on dvd..

It was funny, sweet, honest, and made you feel good. Though it was not exactly an Oscar-worthy story line, I believe many of the actors portrayed some of their true selves in this film. A nice date movie!

I thought that Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey had a pretty obvious lack of chemistry. Also, I thought with another actress in the lead role, the movie could have been better.

If you like Matthew and Sarah, and romantic comedies, this is a sure bet. I normally HATE romantic comedies, but found myself enjoying this one.

A very nice afternoon movie. Predictable but fun to watch. What's even funnier is seeing that the people who gave this movie the lowest overall ratings at this site are men most likely to be living at home! Hilarious. Leave the nest boys!

I think that this movie was pretty good! I went to see it with my boyfriend for our anniversary and it was the right choice! I love Matthew McConaughey, so that is another reason why this movie was good since he is such a cutie! I thought it was interesting and I would recommend it to people.

I thought that it was a very convincing movie. The actors really seemed to be attracted to each other, and look good together. I would go to see a second failure to launch if they came out with one.

Another one of those shallow romantic comedies. Not worth watching at all. Also, I don't like that sex and the city person, she's only in this movie to attract viewers. Very generic and unfunny.

I enjoy Matthew McConaughey movies, he adds a sense of character to his added character. This movie exudes his successful career as an actor, he brings Sarah Jessica Parker to an all time high in her career, as an actress.
