Wow, I can't understand why people would not enjoy this movie? I mean Ed Burns is enough but just the whole thing and the ending was great. I actually thought it was pretty the clever the way he was telling the story and with that gun to his head, as if it had a bad ending. Someone mentioned earlier it was a little too neat... but that is the whole point, he had thought of moves way before it happened. You know with the whole chess analogy? It makes sense to me! I just dont know why people read too much into things and start comparing, its for entertainment value... why would they put Paul and Luis there? I recommend it, and allow yourself to follow the movie and be amazed at the end - try not to be too clever, "oh I saw that coming".

Confidence is a decent heist style movie that, while entertaining, falls far short of movies like Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. Dustin Hoffman does a good performance as a mob leader, but the movie is far from amazing.

I'm not sure why so many people have compared this to 'ocean's 11'... they are in no way similar except that they both involved 'capers'. anyway, after I finished watching 'confidence' I really, really liked it. But now that I've had some time to think about it I'm not nearly as enamoured with it. The acting is superb and the directing competent and stylish... but the twists and turns, which give the story its interest, end up seeming forced, and the ending is too neat and an emotional letdown. Ultimately, it's completely trivial... which is something that applies to most movies these days, but for some reason because I figured that out later on instead of right when I was watching the movie I resent it more.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It felt like I was watching a patchwork movie about all the other gangster/heist/mob/bad romace plot movies. I didn't even pay for my ticket and I still wanted a refund! The only female in this pathetic excuse for testosterone was Weisz. She was very convincing in the scenes when she was sad and being sexually harassed by Hoffman. He just doesn't come off very tough to me...

DONT EVER... EVER... EVER... come up with a movie like that... EVER... EVER... EVER... that was trash... I'd rather watch a movie with no sound from the 1900's.

Perhaps I was exhausted prior to seeing this movie. But I could not understand much of it. The actors were OK yet it was difficult to judge them since I spent so much time asking my girlfriend: What the hell is going on? She did not seem to know much either, and when she did her answers were commonplace, leaving me to wonder whether she was lying or I had developed some learning disability as soon as the lights went out in the theatre. In any case, it might be a good movie, but probably isn't. Save it for a rental or when you've had at least eight hours of sleep.

I must be getting very selective. This movie just didn't really take off for me. It kept looking at the time. I found it quite boring. Too much bla bla bla. The action scenes were snail slow. Burns is easy on the eyes but... cool might be in, but too cool is out. Don't waste your money.

Excellent movie. I don't understand why people didn't like it. Do yourself a favor and go see that movie. Ed Burns and D. Hoffman are excellent. The story is good and sometimes really funny. Check it out!

It's a very entertaining movie. It's a little bit mixed up at first, but when everything falls in to place it's great!!

This movie sucked. It's a bad version of oceans elevent. IT's filmed like an MTV videoclip and the actors are half-hearted. Don't wast your money, guys.

This movie was fun to watch - but very frustrating at times as the plot stumbled forward. Some of the actors just seemed uncomfortable with their characters and their lines. The cinematography was poor - don't get me started... Edward Burns was a good choice for the lead in this movie: a serious grifter - always thinking, plotting. Dustin Hoffman didn't work for me. His character not intimidating, not interesting, and not devious enough. Rachel Weisz is beautiful but looked like she felt uncomfortable in her character. The cameras weren't too flattering either: harsh lighting, bad make-up and dreadful costumes. Now, Paul Giamatti played a great uptight, nervous, volatile, dependent guy. I love to watch his characters especially his Planet of the Apes' ape character. As for Andy Garcia and his Columbo rip-off (which was for the plot?!?) he wasn't able to provide any screen magic for this film - probably due to direction. That's sad because he has developed some great characters in other big budget movies. Finally, for an "R" movie I should have seen a little more of Rachel and a lot more physical violence. This was just dressed up PG-13 to keep the kids out (or bring them in?)

I thought this movie was very good, the main character was a little "to cool" for my liking but other then that it kept you thinking. If you like the usual suspects then you will like this movie. Amazing ending.

This is simply cool."À la" Tarentino, with Edward Burns playing a surb role, and extremely well-supported by Andy Garcia, Dustin Hoffman and a very pretty actress. The plot is amazing until the very last 5 minutes! The music is great. Excellent flick!

There's nothing revolutionary about Confidence; it has all the elements you would expect from a film about con artists. In retrospect I'd say it was a second-rate Usual Suspects. However, the quality acting, occasionally witty dialogue, and the endless plot twists redeem the movie from its lack of originality.

Great Movie. Hoffman's character was terrific. Weisz was good and very sexy. I enjoyed this movie and it was not too long. Just as good as Phone Booth.

Good movie, Hoffman played his role very well, I wish I could say the same for Burns. Really no need for the female role. Plot was excellent, you could see the twist coming however but that does not take the enjoyment out of the movie. One last character twist at the end that was good. See the movie, you won't regret it.

Bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep... Now you've heard 80% of the dialogue. Next -- plot. It's called stun the audience with no-depth characters and confusing, nonsensical plot development and, oh yeah, let's not forget that 'tasteful' love scene (or was it a lesson in oral anatomy) As for the ending... surprising? I think not. I spell it RELIEF!

What a movie! I thought Banko Ribbs was just excellent as the cashier in the bar in the strip club scene. A must see if you didn't really like MArathon Man. God bless!

10/10 the movie of the year, it has everything in it. Keeps you at the edge of your seat, and makes you think. Very smooth, great acting, don't know what else to say but wow that was amazing. I'll watch it another 2 or 3 times before it comes out on video.

Lots of plot twists. When you think you have it, think again. The movie likens the con to a chess game where the player/grifter must have the next 20 moves (in all its permutations) figured out in advance.

Wow! Very Clever! When you think you have the story, your forced to think again. Things are not what they seem and your never sure of what is real and what is not real. I have to say that I have never seen Dustin Hoffman play a role of this type. I was not particularly fond of his character, but the truth is it worked out in favor of the movie. I am impressed!
