[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] A very solid movie. They are all victims. Committing this horrible mistake at 13 and having to deal with that for the rest of your life is unbearable. My sister who watched movie with me just wanted to slap that little girl and to brutalize the girl who pretended to be raped. It just shows how flawed human beings are. They are all flawed but I feel for all of them.

It was okay. Not my type of movie. My Mom dragged me to it. I wish I didn't go.

I loved it! The acting, directing, and filming was brilliant. The slow pace of the movie helped to set the story and develop the emotion. The genious playbacks and beautiful music kept me at the edge of my seat, curious of what would happen next.

I expected more of this movie. The beginning was very -ok... lets get going-whats going on type of beginning... Once the movie was 1/2 way through... it began to pick up. English patient was way better or even Painted Veil. This movie did not deserve academy nomination.

I was expecting so much more from this movie. There is virtually no plot flow to this movie. The acting is pretty good, but the movie has you so confused most of the time. I really was disappointed with it.

I am an Oscars fan, and I went to see this before the big night, to have an opinion about this Oscar pick. I was absolutely SURE it won't win Best Picture. The cinematography was nice, but Keira Knightley was really not up to par. She was hard to understand when she spoke and her facial expression was that of scorn, more than anything else. Besides her acting, I think she must be anorexic, she's almost transparent!! James McAvoy was stellar, on the other hand. I loved his acting, he was believable, same for the young sister, amazing acting (really worth the Oscar nod) I think it's a good movie, but I don't see why the huge hype around it... It's just another love-story, not a classic for sure.

True it was a little long... could have easily carved 1/2 hour off it. But what a moving story, how one incident can destroy countless lives and there really is no going back. A definite must see!!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] For all the doubters and haters of this movie - read the amazing novel by Ian MacEwan than go see it again. Rarely does a film adaptation of a piece of literature suceed so well. I was skeptical walking into the theatre, but the film faithfully captured the tone of the book. I was slightly disappointed by the ending - it would have been nice to go back to the mansion as occurs in the novel rather than set it all as a television interview. But in the novel, the entire ending happens in Briony's mind, which is of course, harder to do on film.

Unbelievable all those mixed reviews, this movie is outstanding. Guess not for every one but I was certainly impressed with the acting, the dept of the story even if the ending was rather not what I hoped for.

I enjoyed the movie, however my boyfriend fell asleep. So girls go see it, but leave your men at home.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was really well done and very unique. Some people say its slow but I don't agree at all. Everything in it is vital to the storyline. I want to see it again.

One of the most romantic and thoroughly enjoyable movies I have seen all year. James McAvoy and Keira Knightley have wonderful on-screen chemistry together.

The only people who need to atone for anything are the people who wrote and produced this movie - THEY ARE PURE EVIL.

Ho hum. Very piecemeal, boring, slow. Acting was okay but the storyline was confusing. War scenes looked very "staged". We could have left half-way through. As always, Keira Knightly looked lovely though.

This is a pretty movie. It's also predictable and BORING, and not really that deep at all.

This is a difficult movie to rate. True, the acting, cinematography, sets, costumes, etc. are all very good. Yes, the dialogue and story does draw you in, even with its rather slow pace. However, I have to ask the question," what is the point? ". There are some stories that need to be written, however horrific it may be. Perhaps it is not the movie itself that I have a problem with but with the entire storyline. If this is a non-fiction, then this story should never have been retold. If this is a fictional work, then it is just a cruel joke. Artistry is meant to inspire or provoke. This story does neither. Avoid at all costs.

The OBVIOUS winner for Best Adapted Screenplay in my opinion. If this doesn't win that category, I'll eat my shoe (or whatever the expression is) At the end of the movie, it's the first time I found myself giving full credit and respect to the screenwriter for keeping me guessing and satisfying me fully the entire length of the movie. Hats off to the shopkeep (well, that's definitely not the appropriate expression here but whatever) It's the first film I've seen in YEARS that's made me want to read the novel IMMEDIATELY after the film (the last film to do this was American Pie 3, I think) Not only is the movie breathtakingly beautiful to look at (the one continuous rolling shot at the Dunkirk beach will numb your mind), but it also packs one heck of an emotional punch. Not my favourite movie of the year, but certainly my pick for winning the Best Picture Oscar. Most definitely recommended. The only reason I can't give this a perfect rating is because the performances are TOO professional. I can't really explain it. I was just simply far more moved by the story than the performances. Especially the younger sister who I thought offered no depth to her role.
