Very good movie. Tom Hanks and Julie Roberts are always worth watching. Phillip Seymore Hoffmans' performance takes this from a "worth seeing" to a "don't miss it" movie.

Tom Hanks does a Great Job as a Congressman. He really makes this movie.

A great mix of entertainment and important (and relevant) information. I like how the current situations in Iraq and Afganistan push at the back of your mind while you watch the film. As much as I liked Hanks' performance, I think it's Philip Seymour Hoffman who really takes the cake with an AWESOME performance. That being said, I don't see why the Award shows are giving this film so much attention. It's fun but it's really nothing special. Especially Julia Roberts' performance. What's the big deal?! It's an important story to tell because this is common U. S. foreign policy (supplying weapons and cash to the enemies of the enemies of the U. S.) I like (sincerely, not sarcastically) how the film avoids mentioning that Osama Bin Laden's group was one of the factions funded by Charlie Wilson. The long-term ramifications of this type of foreign policy should be obvious and hopefully avoided in the future. Anyway, it's a movie worth seeing but not worth owning.

This a great example f neo-conservative propaganda, exactly what created the contemporary mess. See the actual events and their connection in the BBC documentary "The Power Of Nightmares" It's available on Google. Can't believe Tom Hanks would star in this.

Meh, it's a little dry and very political. No action, adventure, romance, or anything like that. It's a good story, but demands a taste for military or political workings.

I was bored to death! Really was not good at all... and I don't recommend this to anyone who has a life.

This movie affected me more than I thought it would. The main character appears to be a hopeless charade of a congressman but turns out to be possessed of integrity, determination and compassion. He ended the war in Afghanistan. It "don't get any better than that!" I cried at the end when he was unable to secure American support to rebuild Afghanistan and we all know how that turned out... an insightful, brilliant, wise yet despairing look under the microscope at the workings of the American government system. By the end of the film I feel for Charlie Wilson; his frustration is my frustration too. Mike Nichols, bravo!

The film was successful in entertaining this member of its audience. The veracity of the events is not something I can attest to. Doesn't matter. It's not a documentary. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was excellent and Tom Hanks was good enough. Charlie's Angels (remember them? ) were great.

The acting and character development was superb. For a movie about a war, my wife and I found it to be far superior to the usual blood and guts portrayal. The dialogue was witty and sophisticated. All this, and it tells a true story!

This movie was awesome. Capts the true face of Afghanistan and what those ppl have suffered and contrasts it with the americain lifestyle of rich and famous... very nice contrast. Very well done!

The movie tries to project a very important era in our history in the silliest and most superficial way. A good idea for a film made bad by a terrible script and an awful twisting of history. I was reluctant to go see it after the negative reviews I saw. The theatre was virtually empty. After suffering through it, I realized the the reviews I had read were even too kind. No wonder the theater was virtually empty, except of few optimists like me!!!

Very interesting movie. It kept me interested, which is the most important thing for me. It is different from what we start to expect to see from movies these days.

I enjoyed it but at times it felt like it was out to be a feel-good movie because of the War in Iraq. It was a good plot, but it still seemed like it was meant to help the US feel better about the dismal record in Iraq! Regardless, Tom Hanks, masterful as always!
