Awful in a bad way. Not scary (not even remotely) Can't really get into the story because its so full of twists and is really not engaging (not even for a second)

A truely scary movie with amazing sound effects that are lacking in most horrors'.

The Abandoned will haunt your nightmares for weeks. I saw this one at a midnight show at the TIFF and I'm glad to see it getting a proper release. Montrealers will have a special interest in this one because it was written by Karim Hussain and most of the sountrack was composed by David Kristian. It's nice to see local talent getting work on foreign films! If you like horror films that have real makeup effects as opposed to compiuter generated ones, and if you like horror films that get under your skin, this is the one. Some of the images in this film will haunt you forever, sort of like the old woman in the tub from the Shining. I'd give this film a 10, but I felt some of the acting could havce been a little better. All in all, this is a must see horror film!

Every year I make one mistake when selecting screenings to see at the Toronto International Film Festival. In 2006," The Abandoned" was it.
