A great film a mixture of the glossy and dark sides of 70s glam rock with a great fantsay element.

This doesn't deserve a perfect rating. It has its target audience, and to them it is a perfect movie. But to the general public it's worth seeing at best, pretty cheesy at worst. I'm debatably a part of the target audience, and I still think there were fairly serious flaws in the script. This was not a perfect movie.

Velvet Goldmine is a velvet goldmine. A smoky, glittery, feathered all-star feast for the senses. Nostalgia for those who have traded in their spandex and scarves for trousers and neckties. A story of love, betrayal, coming of age and coming out of the closet. A perfect mix of sex, drugs and glam rock.

The best movie of all times!!! But I have to admit I'm a huge fan og glam rock so it's not surprising... It's delightful to recognize the events this movie portrays. Ewan Mcgregor proves to be the most amazing actor and Jonathan Rhys-Myers and Toni Collette are quite good too. I've watched this movie more times than I could say and I still discover new stuff every time I watch.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Velvet Goldmine has my #1 actor in it who is Ewan Mcgregor. He plays a gay singer named Curt Wild. Jonathan Rhys Meyers who was in Ride With The Devil plays Curt's boy friend (Brian Slade) who gets killed. Or is it all made up? You have to see the movie to know what happens. It is set in the 1970's and a interviewer who was a fan of Brian and Curt is trying to find out what happens to Brian Slade. I have seen this movie more times then I can think of. But it is just as good as the first time I saw it. I hope this help you know how good it..
